Reconnecting Africa
Making Africa More Conscious, Stronger and Determined to Swim Against the Tide.

Few of you may agree with me that our desire is what may have caused us to be separated from each other.

TSASI
Well, the cycle of the human beings requires us to have desire and this desire led us into trade and that is how our relationship begins to develop with the Europeans.

Janelle
These relationships are based on, as far as the Europeans are concerned, a desire to trade, first in gold and in textiles, later in human cargo. And don’t forget that, it was a trade that started between the Europeans and African elites.
And since Europe was then more advanced than Africa,Africans were in a situation where they could get goods that they think they didn’t have.

TSASI
Of course, Africans can get guns, textile, Iron bars, a more sophisticated kind of iron. In Fact all these items like iron aluminium were already in Africa, And since It is essentially a desire that they have to have European goods, which in some ways they consider superior to their own. Economically, this trade is not really benefiting Africa.

Janelle
Being unaware of it is perhaps one of its defining characteristics and causes why Africans are passively, out of a sense of obligation.

TSASI
Everything in the universe, from the stars and planets to the smallest insect, is constantly changing. Nothing remains the same for a single moment. The crucial question, therefore, is whether Africans are changing for the better or changing for the worse.
When we fail to realise this, we give in to inertia. In other words, the frightening thing about succumbing to inertia is that we are completely oblivious and indifferent to whether we are changing for the better or the worse.

Janelle
If we’ve got the desire to trade for goods why can’t we have the desire to improve our self-discipline? Narratives like the ones we just shared about “Desire” are central to our life as Black Americans, it stimulates our mind, allowing us to think and imagine different strategies to live in this land called America.
One could assume that the more we desire to step on our fellow African Americans and get to the top is the better way one can understand he is stronger and smarter than others. Killing a brother like Tupac, Biggie and Aaliya who were very creative and precious in the Black community show how we have distance, separated and dim the bright light of Black Americans.

TSASI
Trapped in the “Tricks of Desire” is our next episode.
Thank you Janellemonae,
