What degree of strategic autonomy should African states seek in a changing world?

CHAPTER II: THE AFRICAN ADVANTAGE

Africa’s most abundant resource may not be underground. It may be human. The continent contains one of the world’s youngest populations and a rapidly expanding entrepreneurial class.

Personally, I believe the people of Burkina Faso are truly blessed.
The question I often ask myself is:
What is it that the Burkinabe are doing differently that countries such as Ghana are not doing?
When those within Ghana collaborated with external interests to overthrow Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, many would argue that an important national transformation project was interrupted.
An entire generation lost the opportunity to witness the full maturation of a vision centred on African self-reliance, industrialisation and sovereignty.
Yet the Burkinabe appear to have experienced something remarkable.
