Prologue
“Each one of you has a noble mission for people’s happiness and progress. Without you, the doors to a bright tomorrow cannot be opened.”
— Ikeda Sensei.
In a world where beauty often hides behind filters and fleeting trends, there are a few who redefine it — not as a mask, but as a mission.
Maame Gyamfuaa is one such woman. Born of modest beginnings in Suhum and raised in the vibrant heart of Labadi, Accra, her journey is not one of overnight success, but of years shaped by resilience, vision, and a relentless belief in her purpose.
Raised by a single mother who taught her and her sister to rise above limitations and never depend on others for their worth, Maame emerged not only as a mother and entrepreneur, but as a beacon — a shining presence whose work and life inspire others to illuminate their own path.
This is more than a profile.
It is a dialogue about identity, a tribute to the strength of women, and a powerful reminder that our greatest beauty lies in our ability to live authentically — and to rise with purpose.
In this exclusive feature of Assumpta Lifestyle and Newsletter Magazine, hosted by Cookieteegh, we explore Maame’s transformation: from personal struggle to social impact; from private pain to public purpose; from resilience to responsibility.
Through style, through sustainability, through soul — she leads. And as you’ll discover, she doesn’t just wear beauty… she defines it.
“Each One of You Has a Noble Mission for People’s Happiness and Progress.” Be a Shining Presence Like the Sun
— Ikeda Sensei,
In this moving exclusive feature of Assumpta Lifestyle and Newsletter Magazine, Cookieteegh sits down in a heartfelt dialogue with Maame Gyamfuaa—mother, beauty entrepreneur, and co-founder of Oh My Hair and Office and Co by Sa—to explore how one woman’s commitment to her noble mission sparked a revolution of purpose-driven beauty and climate consciousness.
Maame Gyamfuaa’s story is a vibrant embodiment of the Buddhist teaching to “illuminate and manifest one’s true nature.”
Her journey from humble beginnings in Suhum and Labadi, raised by a resilient single mother, to becoming a beacon in Africa’s beauty industry, is nothing short of remarkable.
“Our single mother trained us not to depend on men,” she shares.
“Even though we struggled financially, she made sure we went to the best schools. People called us ‘white people’s children’ because of the way we carried ourselves—even though we were from the ghetto.”
Discovering Her Mission
Maame didn’t always know what her mission was.
“I was impatient in my youth. I didn’t yet understand the value in my own journey,” she admits. “But later, I realized that true success comes when you live in a way that’s true to yourself. That’s when your real value as a human being begins to shine.” Today, Maame is not just a successful businesswoman—she is a shining presence, using her platforms to uplift women, advocate for environmental responsibility, and reshape the narrative of beauty in Africa.
Beauty with Purpose: From Resilience to Responsibility
In the glossy world of wigs and style, Maame has carved out something deeper: a path that marries aesthetic elegance with ethical awareness. “My beauty journey is no longer just about products,” she says.
“It’s about purpose. It’s about responsibility. It’s about leaving people and the planet better than I found them.”
Through Oh My Hairr, Maame champions not just high-quality human hair wigs, but sustainable practices and women’s empowerment. She actively supports disadvantaged communities and continues to speak openly about her commitment to climate justice—transforming personal success into collective upliftment.
A Message to Dreamers
“Each of us has a mission that only we can fulfill,” Maame reflects. “If we didn’t, we wouldn’t have been born. But finding that mission takes patience, courage, and a relentless willingness to challenge yourself to the limit.”
In a world filled with noise and pressure to conform, Maame Gyamfuaa stands out as a living testimony to what it means to pursue your own mountain—not the highest, not the most popular—but the one that belongs only to you.
Her Legacy, Her Light
Whether through style, service, or sustainability, Maame’s journey illuminates the truth that beauty is not just seen, but felt. It is created when resilience matures into responsibility, and when our true selves begin to shine like the sun.
“Without you, the doors to a bright tomorrow cannot be opened.”
— Ikeda Sensei

Cookieteegh & Audience Applause Soundtrack
🎙️ Maame Gyamfuaa (Guest):
Thank you so much, Cookieteegh. What a warm welcome — I’m truly honored to be here and to share space with you and all the amazing people tuning in.
Cookieteegh (Host):
It’s an honor to have you, Maame. Your journey — from your early life in Suhum and Labadi to becoming a beauty industry trailblazer — is nothing short of inspiring.
Now, before we dive into your entrepreneurial brilliance, I want to start with something deeper.
You’ve often spoken about the idea of discovering your “mission” — a sense of purpose beyond business.
Let’s begin there:
How did you first come to realize that your journey in the beauty industry was more than just about hair — that it was about responsibility, impact, and being a shining presence for others?
Maame Gyamfuaa (Guest):
That’s such a powerful question, Cookieteegh. Honestly, for a long time, I didn’t know this was going to be my path. I grew up in a home where strength was a requirement, not an option. My sister and I were raised by a single mother who worked so hard — not just to provide for us, but to instill in us the belief that we must create our own destiny.
When I entered the beauty industry, it began as business. But with time — through the women I met, the stories they carried, the joy and confidence they found in something as simple as wearing good hair — I started to see that this work touches identity. It touches dignity.
And I knew then: beauty can be a tool for purpose.
A way to restore, empower, and uplift — not just externally, but at a soul level.
🎤 Cookieteegh (Host):
Whew! That gave me chills. Beauty as restoration — I love that.
And I think that’s what makes your story stand out. It’s not just about profit, it’s about people. And speaking of purpose, you’ve been a strong advocate for climate consciousness and community upliftment — two things not often associated with the hair and beauty industry.
Let’s get into that.
How is Oh-My-Hairr actively contributing to environmental sustainability and social impact — and what’s your vision for building a greener, more inclusive beauty future?
Maame Gyamfuaa (Guest):
Great question. The beauty industry has such untapped potential to be part of the climate solution, especially in Africa. At-Oh-My-Hairr, we’ve started taking small but meaningful steps:
- First, we’ve committed to ethical sourcing — making sure our human hair is collected responsibly, with fair compensation to the women who donate it.
- We’re also exploring eco-friendly packaging and minimizing synthetic blends that harm the environment.
- Beyond that, we’ve launched empowerment hubs in communities where we operate — offering training in wig making, business, and even climate education.
Because to us, it’s not just about selling a product — it’s about creating opportunity, awareness, and confidence.
My dream is to see beauty brands across Africa investing in green innovation, female-led entrepreneurship, and circular economies. If we don’t make the change, who will?
Cookieteegh (Host):
You better preach! 🙌🏾
You’re not just selling hair — you’re planting legacy.
And what I admire most, Maame, is that your work is deeply rooted in values — from your upbringing to how you run your business today. You once said, “Each of us has a mission that only we can fulfill.” I found that so powerful.
So for the young women watching — the dreamers, the doers, the ones who feel stuck —
What advice would you give them about discovering their own mission and becoming, as you put it, ‘a shining presence’?:
Maame Gyamfuaa (Guest):
Thank you, Cookieteegh. That quote means a lot to me because I lived it.
To every young woman out there — whether you’re in a season of confusion, comparison, or quiet frustration — I want you to know this:
You are not here by accident.
You were born with a unique light, a mission that no one else can fulfill in quite the same way.
But discovering it doesn’t happen overnight. For me, it took failing, struggling, even questioning my worth. But I kept moving — kept challenging myself, learning, staying true to what felt meaningful.
And here’s what I’ve learned:
🌱 Your mission is often hidden in your pain.
🔥 Your power is shaped through your process.
💎 And your beauty — your true beauty — shines brightest when you choose to live with purpose.
So be patient. Be bold. And never dim your light to make others comfortable. Because the world needs your shine.
🎤 Cookieteegh (Host):
Yesss! That’s a word!
“Your beauty shines brightest when you live with purpose.” I hope someone wrote that. Maame, before we close, I want to come back to the heart of today’s feature — the title of this newsletter and dialogue:
“Trend and Climate Conscious: Beauty with Purpose — From Resilience to Responsibility.”
It’s a big statement. But after speaking with you, it feels so real.
You’re a woman who understands trend — you know the market, you know what women want, and you deliver it with style. But what makes you exceptional is that you pair that trend-savvy brilliance with a deep climate consciousness. You think about the earth, about sustainability, about the future. And your beauty — your journey — is deeply rooted in purpose.
You’ve taken your resilience — everything you’ve endured, learned, and survived — and you’ve turned it into responsibility. Responsibility to your customers, your community, and this planet.
That is the kind of leadership the world needs.
Maame Gyamfuaa (Guest):
Thank you, Cookieteegh. That truly means a lot.
Yes — I’ve always believed that trend should meet truth. And in this chapter of my life, I’m focused not just on building a brand, but on building a legacy — one that honors the earth, empowers women, and reminds every person that beauty is never just about the outside.
It’s about what you carry, what you give, and what you leave behind.
So yes — Trend and Climate Conscious.
Beauty with Purpose.
From Resilience to Responsibility.
That’s not just the headline. That’s my life.
Cookieteegh (Host):
And we are so here for it!
To everyone listening, may Maame Gyamfuaa’s story remind you: You can be stylish and sustainable, bold and kind, ambitious and grounded.
You can wear beauty — and be it.
Now go light up the world. One choice, one voice, one purpose at a time.
Until next time — stay trend-forward, climate-conscious, and full of purpose.
This has been Assumpta LifeStyle, with your host Cookieteegh, and the visionary queen herself, Maame Gyamfuaa. End of Dialogue.
