An Exclusive Interview with Cookieteegh

For the first time, Tiwa delves into why she chose this breathtaking beach destination and how it became a reflection of her journey to self-discovery, healing, and peace. She speaks about the significance of finding joy in solitude, embracing life’s beauty, and learning to overcome fear.

Tiwa’s Powerful Reflection:
“I pray to do everything differently. My first assignment was to go on vacation for at least a week. I was nervous—how would I dine alone, walk the beach by myself? But after the first day of fear, I began living in every moment, thanking God for my life, even when I don’t always appreciate it.”
She takes us through her emotional journey, learning that fear is not a barrier—it is a guide. Some days, she felt invincible, ready to take on the world. Other days, she wanted to curl up and cry. But through it all, she found strength in prayer, self-reflection, and the unwavering grace that surrounds her.

Introduction
Cookieteegh: (smiling warmly) Tiwa, my Queen of Afrobeats, has graced the world with her music, voice, and now—her journey. Welcome to this special edition of Assumpta Weekly Magazine!

Tiwa Savage: (grinning) Thank you, my darling Cookieteegh! Wow, what a setting! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to have this conversation. The sea, the breeze—pure magic.
Cookieteegh: It’s like the universe conspired to match the energy of your story. And speaking of stories, Tiwa, the world knows you for your powerful music, your stage presence, and your unshakable confidence. But today, we are peeling back the layers—we are here to talk about you.
Tiwa Savage: (pausing, eyes reflecting the waves) This… this is different. This isn’t about the music. It’s about something deeper. And I’ll be honest, Cookieteegh, I feel a little exposed—but in a good way.
Cookieteegh: And that’s exactly why this conversation is going to be unforgettable. Because today, we’re talking about something that goes beyond the spotlight. We’re talking about life, change, fear… and finding greatness in it all.
The Journey Begins
Cookieteegh: Tiwa, let’s start from the beginning. You chose to take a solo vacation. That’s not something we often hear from someone like you—constantly surrounded by people, cameras, teams. Why? What pushed you to do this?
Tiwa Savage: (exhales deeply) Honestly, it started as an assignment to myself. I had spent so much time living for others—pleasing the fans, fulfilling obligations, constantly being “on”—that I realized I had never just existed for myself.
Cookieteegh: That’s powerful. But what made you finally take that leap?

Tiwa Savage: (pauses) Fear. Ironically, fear pushed me. I realized I was afraid of being alone. I had never gone to a restaurant by myself, let alone taken an entire vacation alone. That fear made me question—why? Why was I so afraid of my own company? So, I decided to face it head-on.
The First Day: A Test of Strength

Cookieteegh: Take us to that moment. You land in the Maldives, bags packed with kaftans, bikinis, and books. What happened when you got there?
Tiwa Savage: (laughs) I froze. I won’t lie! The first day was the hardest. I remember checking into my villa, looking around at this paradise, and thinking—what have I done? I sat on the edge of the bed and for the first time in years, I felt small.
Cookieteegh: Small?
Tiwa Savage: Yes. I was used to being surrounded by people. And suddenly, it was just… me. No distractions. No schedules. No entourage. Just silence. And it was terrifying.
Cookieteegh: Did you regret coming?

Tiwa Savage: (smiling wistfully) That first night, yes. I considered booking an early flight back. I even reached for my phone to call my manager. But then, something told me—stay. Sit in this discomfort. Let it teach you.
A Shift Happens

Cookieteegh: And you did. What changed?
Tiwa Savage: The second day, I woke up and did something I never had time for before—I watched the sunrise. No phone, no distractions. Just me and the ocean. And in that moment, something shifted. I realized that for the first time in my life, I was living without expectations. I wasn’t performing, I wasn’t entertaining. I was just being.

Cookieteegh: That must have been freeing.
Tiwa Savage: It was. I started listening to my audiobooks, reading my Bible, and journaling. I walked on the beach barefoot, letting the waves wash over my feet. And every day, I felt lighter.
Cookieteegh: But healing isn’t always smooth. Were there moments where you struggled?
Tiwa Savage: Oh. Some days, I felt like I had conquered my fears. Other days, I wanted to curl up and cry. And that’s when I learned that healing isn’t linear. Some days, you feel strong. On other days, you feel broken again. And both are okay.
A New Tiwa

Cookieteegh: So, when you finally left the Maldives, what did you take with you?
Tiwa Savage: (smiling) A new sense of self. I went there looking for peace, and I found something deeper—freedom. The freedom to be alone and love it. The freedom to say no to things that drain me. The freedom to celebrate my life, not just exist in it.
Cookieteegh: And that’s why we are here today—Celebrating The Greatness of Life.
Tiwa Savage: Exactly. Life isn’t just about success or struggle. It’s about moments. This moment. Right now. It’s about learning that even in solitude, we are whole. Even in fear, we are brave. Even in stillness, we are growing.
Closing Thoughts

Cookieteegh: Tiwa, you didn’t just take a vacation. You took a journey. And today, the world gets to learn from it.
Tiwa Savage: (nods) If there’s one thing I want people to take from this, it’s this—don’t wait for life to permit you to live. Take the trip. Sit in silence. Conquer your fears. And most importantly—celebrate the greatness that is already within you.
Cookieteegh: (smiling) And with that, we conclude this powerful conversation. Thank you, Tiwa Savage, for sharing your truth. The world is listening.
Tiwa Savage: (softly) And I’m finally speaking.
Cookieteegh: Assumpta Weekly Magazine, 19th February 2025. Be there.
