“Tyla And other African Musicians Living up to The Promise”
Through the medium of music, Africans have tell their stories, histories and spirits of life have been handed down from the distance past to present, and they will be carried forward far into the future.
No matter how active Africans have been in the past and what glorious accomplishments they have achieved, if they stop striving in their own efforts, they will give in to defeat. Nichiren Daishonin writes: “For example, the journey from Kamakura to Kyoto takes twelve days. If you travel for eleven but stop with only one day remaining, how can you admire the moon over the capital?” (WND-1, 1027). Brilliant, everlasting victory in life is achieved through maintaining a spirit to continue seeking the way, challenging ourselves, and fighting our hardest as long as we live.
This principle applies to all individuals regardless of their race or background. It emphasises the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving success and fulfilment in life. Africans, like any other people, need to continuously strive and put in their best efforts to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

No matter how glorious the past accomplishments of Africans may have been, it is crucial for individuals to keep pushing themselves and never give in to defeat. It is through this persistent effort and unwavering spirit that one can ultimately reach a state of brilliant and everlasting victory in life.
The analogy presented by Nichiren Daishonin, comparing the journey from Kamakura to Kyoto, highlights the significance of completing the journey entirely to fully experience and appreciate the beauty and rewards at the destination. Similarly, it is important for individuals to continue their efforts until the end, rather than stopping prematurely and missing out on the potential achievements and joys that lie ahead.
To maintain this spirit of continuous seeking and challenging oneself, individuals must have a strong determination and a willingness to overcome obstacles. It requires a mindset that is focused on growth and improvement, always striving to better oneself and one’s circumstances.
In conclusion, regardless of their background, Africans or any individuals should embrace the principle of continuous striving and never giving up. The path to brilliant and everlasting victory in life lies in maintaining a spirit of perseverance, continuously seeking the way, challenging oneself, and putting in the utmost effort throughout one’s entire life journey.

I have always loved the Namibia forest. As the sun breaks through on the horizon, the first rays of sunlight beam across the forest, announcing a new day, and invigorating all forms of life as they begin to play their joyful melodies. Choruses of vegetation and flowers, insects and birds, harmonies of the blue sky and a soothing breeze, excellent pieces of music performed by nature to bring peace of mind to all and fill them with vitality.

These waves dance and shimmer, reflecting the golden hue, As the sun’s warm embrace, nature’s soul does imbue. Whispering grasses sway, a symphony in motion,Their gentle songs orchestrating a sublime devotion.
Flowers bloom in vibrant colours, petals unfurling wide,Their delicate fragrances permeate the morning tide. Butterflies flutter, their wings a painter’s palette,
Creating art in flight, a masterpiece in this vignette. Insects hum and buzz, melodies pure and sweet, Their tiny orchestra harmonises at our feet.

Bees daintily sip nectar, humming their tuneful delight, A symphony buzzing, creating a melodious sight. Birds take their cue, trilling their euphonic refrain, Each note is a gift, a celestial acoustic champagne. From chirping sparrows to majestic soaring eagles,
Their songs weave together, a chorus of peaceful vigils. Above, the vast blue sky stretches far and wide, Its tranquillity is a balm for us to confide in. A soothing breeze whispers secrets untold, Nature’s lullaby, a melody to behold. This concert of nature, a mesmerising display, Fills our hearts with joy and takes worries away.

With peace of mind, and vitality restored, We embrace the new day, grateful for this reward. For as the sun breaks through, a painting in the sky, Nature’s symphony plays, bringing tears to our eye. The melodies of life, a gift so pure and free, With every sunrise, a reminder of the beauty we see.

“By shaking your waist during the performance, you encourage the audience to cheer for themselves, thus progressing together towards happiness.”

TYLA:
Yes, through the gesture of shaking my waist during performing, i indeed encourage the audience to cheer on themselves and advance towards happiness. The act of shaking my waist is often associated with joy, energy, and celebration. By incorporating this movement into my performance, i can inspire the audience to let go of their inhibitions and embrace their own happiness.
When the audience sees me expressing myself freely and enjoying the moment, it empowers them to do the same. It becomes a collective experience where everyone is encouraged to shed their worries and join in the celebration of life. By shaking my waist, I create a lively and energetic atmosphere that entices the audience to let loose, dance, and cheer themselves on.
By pursuing happiness and encouraging others to do the same, I invite the audience to embark on a shared journey towards joy and fulfilment. This uplifting gesture can create a sense of unity and connection between performer and audience, enabling everyone to support each other in their pursuit of happiness.

“In the end, as an African musician, songwriter, and performer, will you say you have lived up to the promise, considering the historical context where African slaves used songs as a means of communication during the beginning and end of the slave trade, as well as their contribution to conveying emotions and dedication on the cotton fields.”

TYLA:
Ah, the intertwined connection between music and history is remarkable. It reminds me of a tale from my past travels, where I witnessed the incredible journey of a musician from South Africa, a country ravaged by apartheid.

In the heart of the country, amongst the shifting sands and echoes of forgotten civilizations, I found myself with my humble parents. It was in this tumultuous landscape that I grew up, witnessing the brutal treatment of black males and females.

But today, a new chapter begins with the birth of a remarkable female musician named Tyla. Adorned in vibrant traditional attire and possessing a determined gaze, she embodies the spirit of her ancestors.
I come from a lineage of Griots, the esteemed keepers of South African oral traditions. Through my melodies, I bear the weight of my ancestors’ stories – their struggles against oppression and their resilience in the face of adversity. Through music, I tirelessly strive to honor my heritage and shed light on the plight of my people.

ASSUMPTA:
As I immersed myself in the profound compositions you shared, a sense of connection to the enslaved Africans who channeled their sorrows and dreams through the captivating force of song washed over me. Their haunting voices reverberated through the confined spaces of slave ships and permeated the cotton fields, transcending the barriers of language and culture.

In reflecting upon their indomitable spirits, I am reminded of your own resilience and determination. Like those who came before you, you have taken up the torch of your ancestors, weaving their stories into your melodies. Through your unwavering dedication and undeniable talent, you tirelessly strive to ensure that these narratives reach a wider audience and ignite transformative change.
Thus, in response to your inquiry, I wholeheartedly believe that musicians such as you Tyla, through your profound commitment to your craft, unquestionably fulfill The Promise.
