Thank you for the question. Our radiant performance in the song “Manodzi” can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, as highly accomplished and talented singers in our own right, we both possess strong vocal abilities and stage presence. Our years of experience and dedication to our craft contribute to the radiance of our performance.
Additionally, our collaboration brings together our unique musical styles and cultural influences. My infectious dancehall and reggae-infused sound blends harmoniously with Angelique Kidjo’s Afrobeat and world music flavours. This fusion of styles creates a dynamic and captivating musical experience, further enhancing our radiance on stage.
The theme and lyrics of the song have deeply resonated with us, allowing us to connect with the material and convey genuine emotions through our voices. This authenticity and passion are felt by the audience, elevating the overall radiance of our performance.

“That’s an incredible question! I believe it’s wonderful to discover that each of us has our own profound mission, which makes us contemplate the deeper purpose of being a musician. The art of music holds the power to influence people in both positive and negative ways, prompting me to continuously reflect on the importance of providing the audience with valuable musical vocal techniques.
As singers, we employ a straightforward quick tone during the initial singing by focusing on clear enunciation, precise pitch control, and maintaining a consistent rhythm. We also prioritise developing our breath control and refining our vocal technique to achieve a smooth and effortless tone.
In order to incorporate the instruments’ sound and achieve a perfect accord, we diligently practise listening and blending with the instruments. This involves understanding the musical arrangement, dynamics, and timing. During rehearsals, we pay close attention to the instrumentalists’ parts, seeking ways to complement and synchronise our vocals with their performance.
Acquiring these techniques usually involves a combination of training, practice, and experience. Personally, I have received vocal lessons from qualified instructors, studied music theory, and actively participated in choirs, bands, and musical groups. Through consistent practice, experimentation, and performance opportunities, I have grown and refined my skills as a singer, enabling me to achieve a harmonious blend with the instruments.”
