“Just as flowers open up and bear fruits, just as the moon appears and invariably grows full, just as a lamp becomes brighter when oil is added, and just as plants and trees flourish with rain, so will human beings never fail to prosper when they make good causes. ( WND, p. 1013)

It’s Amazing How Gwyneth’s Smile Speaks to Our Heart.

Anytime we see her with a smile on her face, we see ourselves smiling back to you. What is it that prompts our heart to smile back to you?
CAUSE AND EFFECT
For Gwyneth, there has always been power in Smile. A cause is something we do, something we say, or something we think. An effect is something that happens to us.
What kind of cause do you think is good?
What kind of cause do you think is bad?
What can you do that would be good causes to make things better?
Gwyneth Gyimah Addo is nominated by AssumptaGH Newsletter Publications Magazine as Ghana’s most beautiful woman-ever entrepreneur to win a national beauty award.
Gwyneth Gyimah Addo, a Ghanaian who is now in her 40’s, has found an avenue of self-expression in her family, community, and in her Hair Santa business, three forms she said allowed her to explore her true identity.

“I understood that smiling was the cause for change, rather than the result of change. In other words, I didn’t need to wait until I had something to smile about.
So I decided to make the effort to smile and to speak warmly to people in my interventions, even when I was in a hurry
It is through our relationships with others that I develop and grow; learn from one another; help and support one another; and cultivate genuine humanity. Therefore, I cannot enjoy happiness for myself alone. True happiness is happiness that is shared with others.

AssumptaGH:
It is amazing how your Smile speaks into people’s hearts.

That’s amazing, “We are all treasures. As long as we enthusiastically strive in our daily lives, smiles will come, and joy is assured.
My family, community and the Hair Senta can be described as my vocal points, like a community with a strong local network of people. Hair Senta accommodated some hundreds of customers in its community.
In addition, the bonds of hope, in the hopes of getting my customers beautiful hair, contribute to “recovery of the heart” of those who come to hair Senta. The same way I respond to my community and family about the best way to meet their needs.

Anytime I see you with a smile on your face, I see myself smiling back to you. What is it that prompts my heart to smile back to you?

Gwyneth:
That is the beneficial effects of a smile.
There might be some truth to these power ballad lyrics made famous by the hard rock band Bad English in the late ‘80s. “When I see you smile, I can face the world / you know I can do anything / When I see you smile / I see a ray of light … / I see it shining right through the rain.”
I tend to regard smiling as a reaction to or the effect of uplifting experiences. While this is true, research studies have revealed that the act of smiling itself can be the cause for oneself experiencing joy and can even influence others.

AssumptaGH:
Can you tell us more about it?

Gwyneth:
Indeed, smiling prompts the brain to make you feel good.
A 2009 comparative fMRI study out of the Technical University of Munich found that muscle and skin activity of facial expressions may directly influence emotions. Specifically, the evidence suggests that imitating facial expressions activates regions of the brain that produce hormones associated with emotion. This means that when one person smiles and the other person smiles back, both brains are prompted to make them feel good. Smiling could add years to your life.
Over the years, the scientific study of happiness has found that there are a variety of additional benefits to a life with more positive emotions. One such finding published in 2010 in the journal Psychological Science by researchers from Wayne State University found a correlation between smiling and longevity.
Analysing the lifespan of 230 major league baseball players using their facial expressions in their 1952 baseball cards led the researchers to a fascinating conclusion. On average, the players with bigger smiles, which suggest a deeper level of contentment, lived seven years longer than those who smiled less.

AssumptaGH:
You mean, smiling could bring a lifetime of benefits?

Gwyneth:
Taking into account various factors that influence emotional experience, I will say smiling can produce overwhelming results. Another longitudinal study out of the University of California, Berkeley, sought to prove that people’s smiles in yearbook photographs at age 21 would envisage a life rich with benefits. Spanning 30 years, the study collected data from 100 women at different stages of their lives.
Those who expressed more positive emotion in their pictures became more achievement-oriented later in life and demonstrated greater resilience when facing challenges. Smiling expressions in their pictures at 21 were also found to be accurate predictors of how inspiring others found them and how fulfilled they felt in their relationships later in life.

AssumptaGH:
It’s amazing how your Smile managed to speak into our heart and bring much joy to us. We have always taken your smile with us to lift us up whenever we are unhappy and broken. Ghana deserves to be called a civilised nation because you earned the deep trust of the people of Ghana.
I think I might be able to get you to talk about the Chanting of Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo is the best cause we can make. It brings out the best in us and helps make everything we do have the best effects.

Thank you very much Gwyneth for your time.
