PROLOGUE
There is a quiet place many young people carry within them.
A place no one sees.
A place where pain grows in silence.
This place is their Secret Garden.
It is where unanswered questions live.
Where disappointment takes root.
Where dreams begin… and sometimes die before they ever have the chance to grow.
In a world quick to judge behavior, label rebellion, and punish mistakes, we often ignore the deeper reality:
Many young people are not lost—
they are simply navigating lives that became too heavy, too early.
What happens when a child stops believing in tomorrow?
What happens when survival becomes more important than purpose?
This issue invites you to step beyond assumptions…
and into the reality behind the choices.
WHAT THIS ISSUE UNPACKS
This edition of IMAGINE-WEEKLY MAGAZINE takes a bold and unfiltered look into a growing and uncomfortable truth:
Why are so many young people drawn to street life—and what are they really searching for?
Through The Secret Garden, Loovaofficial explores:
- 🔹 The Illusion of Street Success The promise of fast money, respect, and power—and the dangerous reality behind it.
- 🔹 The Emotional Weight of a Generation Teenagers carrying adult responsibilities—financial pressure, broken homes, and silent trauma.
- 🔹 The Failure to Be Seen How society often labels behavior without understanding the pain driving it.
- 🔹 The Search for Identity & Belonging Why gangs, fraud, and street culture become substitutes for family, purpose, and validation.
- 🔹 The Cycle of Hopelessness How negative words, lack of opportunity, and emotional neglect create self-fulfilling outcomes.
- 🔹 Voices That Refuse to Be Silent Featuring Maame Ama—a voice of resilience, challenging young people to reclaim themselves.
Overview
The Secret Garden: A Raw Reflection on Youth, Survival, and Street Illusions
The story opens with the quiet, devastating reality of Maame Ama—a misunderstood, emotionally neglected girl whom society never truly paused to understand.
On the surface, Maame Ama’s life in Ghana begins within the enviable contours of privilege and stability. Her father is a wealthy businessman; her mother moves with beauty and presence. Yet, behind closed doors, a far more fractured truth unfolds. Despite living under the same roof, she is starved of maternal warmth and family love. Instead of being nurtured as a child with dreams and potential, Maame Ama is reduced to a servant in her own home—saddled with responsibilities without care, met with high expectations without understanding, and subjected to discipline entirely stripped of affection.
Her existence is quietly dictated by a suffocating trifecta:
- A tightly rationed freedom that stifles autonomy.
- A vast emotional distance from those meant to protect her.
- A heavy, constant silence that replaces meaningful connection.
Neither seen nor heard, Maame Ama slowly begins to disappear within herself.
As emotional isolation tightens its grip, the idea of escape becomes her only sanctuary. From a distance, the chaotic pulse of the capital’s streets begins to look like an invitation. She finds herself drawn to a subculture of young women surviving on their own terms—girls living in kiosks, chasing wealthy men, navigating the drug trade, and moving through the world with an apparent boldness and independence. To a young girl burdened by rejection and hopelessness, this perilous lifestyle masquerades as everything she lacks: freedom, belonging, quick money, and control.
But the glamour is a mirage. Beneath the surface of this fast-paced autonomy lies a grim underbelly of exploitation, psychological trauma, addiction, sickness, violence, and the gradual, systematic erasure of identity and purpose.
The Anatomy of Choice
The Secret Garden transcends traditional storytelling; it is a profound psychological autopsy of survival-driven choices. It meticulously examines how the compounding forces of emotional neglect, family dysfunction, systemic poverty, toxic environments, and societal rejection quietly conspire to push vulnerable youth toward dangerous illusions long before they can comprehend the cost.
This is not a cautionary tale about crime. It is an intimate portrait of:
- Children attempting to survive an emotional desert.
- Young people searching desperately for identity.
- A forgotten generation craving recognition.
- Voices that remain entirely unheard until it is too late.
- 🧠 The Psychology of Street Attraction: An interrogation of why gang culture, fraud, and fast money masquerade as hope to the hopeless.
- 🔥 The Hidden Cost of Fast Money: Unmasking the severe emotional, physical, and long-term consequences buried beneath the illusion of “success.”
- 👁️ Stories of the Unseen & Unheard: Illuminating the lives of youth overlooked by families, schools, and the institutions designed to protect them.
- 💬 Voices of Change: Chronicling Maame Ama’s profound evolution from a place of rejection to one of radical purpose, using her survival as a blueprint to rescue others.
- ❓ The Ultimatum: Confronting the critical questions every young person must face: Is survival enough without purpose? Is the street offering freedom—or simply constructing a different prison?
- 🌍 Rebuilding a Generation at Risk: A rallying cry highlighting the urgent need for mentorship, dignity, emotional sanctuary, and structural guidance.
This issue does not aim to judge.
It aims to understand. It does not glorify the streets. reveals the truth behind them. And more importantly-
it asks a question that demands all of our attention: Are young people choosing the streets.. or are they being pushed there by a world that stopped believing in them first?
DIALOGUE FEATURE
Cookieteegh in Conversation with Loovamarie

Cookieteegh (Host):
The Masterpiece of Modern Heritage
In a world dictated by fleeting trends, Cookieteegh stands as a magnificent reflection of timeless elegance, draped in a masterfully crafted Kaba and slit ensemble by Lauren Haute Couture. This outfit transcends mere fabric and tailoring—it is a profound celebration of identity, confidence, and artistic excellence born from the very heart of contemporary fashion design.
Structural Perfection: Corporate Majesty Meets Evening Allure
The precision of this design speaks volumes. Every line is structured with deliberate intention; every stitch is placed with discipline and grace. The silhouette flows with impeccable balance and a striking, elongated presence that feels simultaneously powerful and feminine. By reimagining traditional aesthetics through expert luxury tailoring, the ensemble transforms classic motifs into a masterclass of contemporary sophistication.
This design effortlessly bridges the gap between high-level corporate elegance and upscale social settings:
- In Professional Spaces: It projects unshakeable confidence, deep cultural pride, and sharp executive poise. It replaces the standard corporate suit with something far more distinguished and commanding.
- For Upscale Dinners & Galas: It effortlessly shifts to radiate warmth, unparalleled class, and an unforgettable stylistic presence. It is brilliantly versatile without ever losing its core authenticity.
A Tribute to Visionary Craftsmanship
Imagine works created entirely from the heart. Designers are continuously redefining the global style landscape by pouring deep passion, rich heritage, and fierce innovation into every silhouette. Lauren Haute Couture demonstrates that this craft is not simply about clothing—it is storytelling through design, architecture through fabric, and pure pride woven into every meticulous detail.
Cookieteegh wears this masterpiece with effortless grace, embodying the brilliance of visionary design and the bright future of global creative excellence.

Cookieteegh: Hello, world! A magnificent welcome to our readers joining us from every corner of the globe. Whether you are tuning in from Accra, Dakar, Paris, Dubai, or anywhere in between, we are so thrilled to have you with us today for a conversation that promises to be deeply moving and incredibly eye-opening.
For our international audience tuning in for the first time, let me introduce myself. I am your host, Cookieteegh, and today I have the absolute privilege of sitting down with an incredible force in the creative and fashion world.
Joining me is the brilliant Loovamarie. For those who may be new to her inspiring journey, Loova Marie is a Senegalese-Egyptian and French-Beninese international model and dynamic content creator. Based in the UAE but working worldwide, she uses her platform not just for aesthetics, but to amplify voices and stories that truly matter.
Loovamarie, a very warm welcome to you! It is an absolute honor to have you in the dialogue today.

Loovamarie: Thank you so much, Cookieteegh! It is a pleasure to be here, and I’m so excited to connect with our readers worldwide.

Cookieteegh: Let’s dive straight into it, because I have to praise the absolute triumph of your recent newsletter article. In this brilliant, breathtaking piece, you so strongly communicate themes of social inequality, emotional neglect, survival, and the search for change through a dramatic and emotionally grounded story.
What makes it so incredibly powerful is that it does not present inequality only as financial poverty. Instead, it shows that even in a family that appears wealthy and stable, a child can still experience profound emotional abandonment. Maame Ama represents so many young people who are materially present in a family, but entirely invisible emotionally.
Your story beautifully unearths several deeper social issues. It shows how families striving for status, money, or success can unintentionally neglect the emotional needs of their children. It highlights how young people who lack love, purpose, or guidance become incredibly vulnerable to dangerous influences, and how society so often judges troubled youth without ever understanding the emotional environment that shaped them.
The contrast in your story is incredibly vital: Her parents are trying to build a better life, yet while pursuing success, they fail to truly see their daughter. That contradiction reflects a wider social reality not just in Ghana, but in so many places around the world: economic ambition without emotional presence can still produce broken young people.
But what I love most is that your newsletter carries a profound message of reform. You aren’t just criticizing families or society; you are asking readers to fundamentally rethink how children are raised, how schools speak to struggling youth, how communities define success, and how society responds to vulnerable young people before the streets reach them first.
So, Loovamarie, my questions to you to kick off our dialogue are:
First, do you find that this dramatic storytelling approach helps the message feel human rather than academic?
And second, is it something you feel readers are more likely to emotionally connect with—experiencing Maame Ama’s pain firsthand rather than just reading cold statistics alone?

Loovamarie:
Thank you, Cookieteegh… truly. And greetings to our readers around the world. I deeply appreciate your introduction—it was not only thoughtful, but it captured the very heart of what The Secret Garden is trying to express.
Your question is important, and I would say—yes. The dramatic storytelling approach is intentional. Because before people understand statistics… they need to feel something.
Stories give pain a face. They give silence a voice. They make something distant… personal. When we speak academically, we inform. But when we tell a story, we connect.
And Maame Ama is not just a character—she is an experience. She is the quiet child in many homes. The misunderstood teenager in many classrooms. The invisible voice in many societies.
There is something I strongly believe, and I try to reflect it through this work: A nation can only truly prosper when its citizens are electrified with hope.
But today, we are seeing something different. In the struggle for survival, especially within the average middle-class life, people are caught in a cycle—working long hours, chasing stability, trying to “make it.” And in that process… precious time is lost.
Time meant for:
- Emotional connection
- Nurturing children
- Caring for health
- Building strong families
Instead, life becomes mechanical. Eight hours—or more—of work every day… and what remains is exhaustion. And in that exhaustion, something dangerous happens: children are provided for… but not always presently loved. They are housed… but not always emotionally held.
For someone like Maame Ama, this creates an internal conflict she cannot easily express. Her desires become suppressed. Her emotions become silent. Her dreams begin to feel out of reach. And then something else begins to grow quietly: tension… longing… and even economic envy.
She starts to observe. She notices others her age—girls in the streets… girls in the capital… living differently. Not necessarily safer. Not necessarily better. But they look… free.
And that is where the connection begins. A deep, unspoken connection between her reality… and the lives of those street girls. Because what she is really drawn to is not the danger—it is what the danger appears to offer:
- Control over one’s life
- Financial independence
- Recognition
- A sense of belonging
And this is how the illusion forms. The streets begin to look like an answer to questions no one ever helped her ask.
So yes—I believe readers will connect more deeply with Maame Ama’s story because they are not just reading about “youth issues” or “social inequality” as concepts—they are entering a life. They are feeling the silence. The confusion. The quiet desperation that statistics can never fully explain.
Because numbers cannot show you what it feels like to be in a room full of people… and still feel completely alone.
The Secret Garden is meant to do more than describe a problem. It is meant to open a door—into the emotional realities that shape decisions we are too quick to judge. And if, through this story, even one person begins to look at a struggling young person differently… then it has already done something meaningful. Because sometimes… all it takes is for someone to be seen… before they choose a different path.

Cookieteegh (Host):
Thank you, Loovamarie. That was not just an answer—it was a revelation. You’ve reminded us that behind every statistic is a silent story… and behind every “problem child” is often an unseen struggle.
And if I may build on what you’ve shared… In a country where government priorities and national imperatives can sometimes feel uncertain—where systems appear capricious… and corruption can quietly erode the ability of Ghanaians to:
- Feed their families,
- Provide stability,
- And in some cases, even protect their freedom…
We begin to see a deeper societal shift. In response to this instability, the idea of mutual survival environments—informal, street-based communities—is growing stronger.
And those teenagers in kiosks… those young people surviving in the margins… they are not just individuals making risky choices. They are, in many ways… a mirror. A mirror reflecting the emotional, economic, and moral state of a nation. A mirror forcing us to confront uncomfortable truths about ourselves—not just as individuals, but as a society. Because sometimes, what we judge… is simply what we do not want to recognize.
Maame Ama’s Internal Conflict
Now, when we return to Maame Ama—we begin to see something even more complex. Maame Ama is not simply “drawn” to the streets. She is torn between two worlds.
On one side:
- The expectations of her family,
- The illusion of stability,
- The silence she has been taught to live with.
And on the other:
- The visible freedom of street girls,
- The boldness she secretly admires,
- The life that feels closer to something real.
Inside her, a quiet war is unfolding. A part of her still longs to belong… to be loved… to be guided. But another part begins to whisper: “Maybe the life they warned you about… is the life that will finally see you.”
And that is where the danger truly lies. Not in crime itself—but in the moment when desperation begins to sound like opportunity.
The Symbolism of The Garden
Your title—The Secret Garden—is deeply symbolic. Because a garden is meant to be a place of growth. A place where life is nurtured. Where something beautiful has the chance to become whole.
But Maame Ama’s garden… is hidden. Neglected. Unattended. It represents:
- Her inner world
- Her silent emotions
- Her suppressed dreams
- The parts of her no one watered, no one protected
And when a garden is left uncared for… it does not stop growing—it simply grows wild, untamed, and sometimes… destructive. In the same way, a child without guidance does not stop developing… they just develop in the direction of survival instead of purpose.
How Can Communities Better Support Youth?
This brings us to the most important question—not just for this story, but for society itself. What can we do differently? If The Secret Garden reveals the problem, then the responsibility shifts to all of us—to become part of the solution.
- 1. Emotional Presence Over Material Provision Providing food, shelter, and education is important—but without emotional connection, it is incomplete. Young people need to feel seen, heard, and valued.
- 2. Safe Spaces for Expression Communities must create environments where young people can speak openly—without fear of judgment or dismissal. Spaces where pain is acknowledged before it turns into rebellion.
- 3. Mentorship & Role Models Not every child will find guidance at home. Communities must step in—through mentors, youth leaders, and programs that offer direction and support.
- 4. Redefining Success Success must move beyond money and status. It must include emotional well-being, purpose, integrity, and personal growth.
- 5. Early Intervention Before Crisis We must stop reacting to outcomes and start responding to early signs. Before the streets “rescue” them—society must reach them first.

Cookieteegh (closing the segment):
Because if we truly listen to stories like Maame Ama’s… we will realize something powerful: Saving young people is not just about removing them from the streets—it is about making sure they never feel the need to go there in the first place.

Loovamarie:
Thank you, Cookieteegh… that perspective is deeply important, and I resonate with it.
As someone who is African-born and a European citizen, and through my work as a content creator, I’ve had the opportunity to experience different societies… different systems… different ways of thinking about people, community, and growth.
And I remember one experience that stayed with me. I once traveled to China—to a small village where my friend Kumica was born. Back in 1972, that village was a poor agricultural town. Families lived with very little support. Neglect—especially at the community and structural level—was normal. People survived, but they were not truly seen or uplifted.
But over time, something shifted. When Xi Jinping became President of China, there was a visible commitment to transformation. Infrastructure improved. Opportunities expanded. And in that village, something powerful happened: affordable, well-structured homes were built—not just as buildings, but as foundations for dignity, stability, and hope.
And what struck me most was this: when people are given structure, stability, and a sense of belonging… they begin to change—not just economically, but emotionally. They begin to believe again.
That experience made something very clear to me: Environment matters. Not just the physical environment—but the emotional and social environment we create for people, especially young people. Because when a society invests in its people, it reduces the need for survival-based decisions. And when it doesn’t… young people create their own systems of survival.
That is exactly what we see in The Secret Garden. Maame Ama’s connection to the street girls is not random. It is built on something deeper: a shared understanding of neglect, pressure, and the need to survive. And this is why community mentorship becomes so crucial.
Community Mentorship Programs
We cannot rely on families alone—especially in societies under pressure. Communities must become active participants in raising young people. Mentorship programs should provide:
- Guidance Young people need someone who has walked ahead of them—someone who can say: “I understand where you are… and I can show you another way.”
- Consistency Not one-time interventions, but continuous presence. Someone they can return to. Someone who doesn’t disappear when things get difficult.
- Representation Mentors who reflect their realities—people who come from similar backgrounds, who understand their struggles without judgment.
- Safe Conversations Spaces where young people can speak honestly about money pressures, family issues, identity confusion, and mental health without fear of being labeled or dismissed.
Because sometimes… one conversation can interrupt a lifetime of the wrong decisions.
How Schools Can Better Support Youth
Schools must also evolve. Because education is not just about academics—it is about human development.
- Emotional Intelligence Education Schools must teach students how to understand their emotions, their stress, and their identity. Not just mathematics and theory—but how to live and cope.
- Early Detection Systems Teachers should be trained to recognize behavioral changes, emotional withdrawal, and signs of distress—and respond with care… not punishment.
- Counseling & Psychological Support Every school should have access to trained counselors, mental health professionals, and safe reporting systems. Because not every student can speak at home.
- Encouragement Over Labels Words matter. A student who hears “You will never succeed” may carry that belief for life. But a student who hears “You are struggling, but you are not finished” can still rebuild their story.
- Pathways Beyond Academics Not every young person will succeed through traditional education. Schools must also introduce creative paths, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, and digital opportunities so that purpose is not limited to one definition.

Loovamarie :
At the end of the day… young people do not wake up one morning and choose destruction. They follow what feels like possibility. So if we want to change their choices—we must change what they see as possible. Because when hope is visible… the streets lose their power.
Thank you once again, Cookieteegh… this conversation is truly necessary.

Loovamarieofficial
You asked an important question earlier about community and support systems, and I want to extend that further—because at the root of everything, we must also ask: what role do families play in mentorship?
Families are the first ecosystem a child experiences. Before schools… before society… before the streets… there is the home. But mentorship within families goes beyond providing food or structure. It is about:
- Emotional presence
- Guidance without fear
- Listening without judgment
- And nurturing individuality
A parent does not need to be perfect—but they must be available. Because when children cannot find understanding at home, encouragement in their environment, or emotional safety with family… they begin to look for it elsewhere. And sometimes “elsewhere”… becomes the streets.
In Maame Ama’s case, her parents were present physically—but absent emotionally. And that gap became the very space where confusion, longing, and vulnerability began to grow. So families must begin to understand: Raising a child is not just about survival—it is about connection.
How Can Digital Tools Support Youth Development?
We are also living in a digital generation—and technology, if used intentionally, can become a powerful tool for change.
- Access to Knowledge Young people today have access to information beyond their immediate environment. Through digital platforms, they can learn skills, discover opportunities, and explore different life paths.
- Digital Mentorship & Communities Online platforms can connect youth with mentors across the world, role models they can relate to, and communities that inspire growth instead of destruction.
- Creative Expression Content creation allows young people to tell their stories, release emotions, build identity, and transform pain into purpose.
- Awareness & Exposure Digital spaces can expose young people to real stories—not just the glorified version of street life, but the truth behind it.
But we must also guide this. Because without direction, digital spaces can also amplify the very illusions we are trying to correct. So the responsibility remains the same: to ensure young people are not just connected—but guided.

Loovamarie (closing her response):
At every level—family, community, school, even digital spaces—we must ask ourselves one question: Are we helping young people feel seen… or are we leaving them to find visibility in dangerous places? Because if we do not guide them… something else will.

Cookieteegh (Closing Reflection):
Thank you, Loovamarie. Your words have not only expanded this conversation—they have given it depth, clarity, and direction.
And perhaps, what stands out the most… is how everything returns to the same central idea: the unseen spaces within young people.
The Secret Garden is not just a title. It is a reality. A quiet, hidden landscape where emotions grow without supervision… where silence becomes identity… and where unmet needs begin to shape dangerous dreams. Maame Ama’s story reminds us that not all brokenness is visible. Not all struggles are loud. Some are carried quietly—within homes, within classrooms, within communities that believe they are doing enough.
But as we’ve explored today:
- Families must move from presence to connection.
- Communities must move from observation to mentorship.
- Schools must move from instruction to understanding.
- And digital spaces must move from influence to guidance.
Because when these systems fail… the Secret Garden grows unattended. And when it grows unattended—it does not disappear. It simply begins to grow toward anything that feels like light… even if that light leads to darkness.
So as we close this dialogue, we leave our readers with this reflection: What if the real work is not stopping young people from going to the streets… but nurturing their inner gardens—before the streets become the only place they feel they can grow?
From all of us at ASSUMPTA WEEKLY MAGAZINE… thank you for reading. Thank you for reflecting. And most importantly—thank you for choosing to see what is often hidden. (End of Dialogue)

✨ Sculpted Sophistication: Serwaa Amihere, Esq. in Esi Anderson
True elegance is found in the perfect harmony of structural design and flawless drape. Highlighting her incredible posture and signature style, Serwaa Amihere, Esq. radiates pure poise in this custom gown by founder and creative director Esi Anderson.
The Outfit & Material Quality
This breathtaking floor-length white gown is a masterclass in modern, minimalist couture.
- The Silhouette: The gown features a high, sophisticated boat neckline (halter-adjacent cut) that balances a completely sleek, tailored bodice. It hugs her body through the torso before cascading beautifully into a dramatically draped, flowing maxi skirt.
- The Masterful Drape: The focal architectural element of the dress is the exquisite, asymmetrical gathering at the right hip. This gathers the fabric tightly to accentuate an hourglass curve, letting the rest of the premium material waterfall effortlessly to the floor with a subtle, elegant pooling effect.
- Material Quality: Crafted from an ultra-luxurious, heavy-weight yet highly fluid silk crepe or premium stretch-cava satin. The material has a pristine matte finish with a dense quality that smooths beautifully over the body, allowing the structural pleats to hold their form while maintaining rich, liquid-like movement at the hemline.
🗓️ Event Suitability & Seasonal Wear
Is it suitable for a Ghana Summer?
Yes, with a caveat. While white is the ultimate summer hue due to its ability to deflect heat, the dense, high-quality fabric and floor-sweeping length make this look better suited for indoor, air-conditioned summer events in Ghana (such as luxury summer galas, upscale indoor receptions, or high-profile launches). It might feel a bit heavy or restrictive for high-humidity outdoor afternoon beach activities.
Does it fit for Corporate Offices?
No. While the high neckline feels incredibly regal and refined, the floor-sweeping length, backless/sleeveless cut, and highly dramatic evening drape lean far too formal for a standard day at a corporate office. However, it is an impeccable choice for a corporate gala, end-of-year executive dinner, or a formal legal awards night.
Does it fit for Dinner?
An Absolute Perfect Fit. This dress is the epitome of high-end evening wear. It is the ultimate showstopper for:
- Black-tie charity dinners
- Formal wedding guest looks
- Luxury anniversaries or red-carpet events
