Review:
“The upcoming HIBS-Africa show exemplifies the culture of value creation in the beauty industry.”
As the HIBS-Africa show approaches, it stands as a testament to the enduring culture of value creation that defines the beauty industry today. This event is more than a mere exhibition; it is a celebration of innovation, education, and empowerment. By bringing together industry experts, emerging brands, and consumers, HIBS-Africa fosters an environment where knowledge is shared, opportunities are created, and African beauty is showcased on a global stage. The show underscores the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in a market that is as dynamic as it is diverse, proving that value creation remains at the heart of true business success.

Prologue:
“A story from a woman who cares about the beauty of the women in her neighbourhood, community, and the continent of Africa.”
Gwen Addo’s story is one of deep commitment to the beauty and well-being of women across Africa. From her early days of nurturing a passion for hair care to establishing a platform that amplifies the voices of beauty professionals continent-wide, Gwen’s journey is rooted in a desire to enhance the lives of women around her. Through Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa, she has created spaces where beauty is not just about appearance but about empowerment, education, and economic opportunity. Her story is one of transforming local dreams into a continental movement that champions the beauty and potential of African women.

Tsasi: It sounds like your journey with Hair Senta and the evolution into HIBS-Africa has been deeply meaningful and transformative, not only for you but for the broader community. Your reflections on the development of this corporate story, rooted in the “Hair Senta Mentality” (HSM), highlight a profound commitment to beauty, empowerment, and entrepreneurship. Here’s a way to express these thoughts:

Gwen : In the Beginning: When I first embarked on this journey, I did not have a grand corporate story in mind. My initial aim was simple: to make beauty more accessible and enriching for women. What started as a passion project has since evolved into something far greater—a movement that has touched lives and inspired change across Ghana and beyond.
Our Commitment:
As we, the dedicated members of Hair Senta—now proudly known as HIBS-Africa—continue to grow, we fully embrace the mission of contributing to the culture of beauty, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This mission is grounded in the “Hair Senta Mentality” (HSM) of our visionary leader, Gwen Addo.

A New Era of Value Creation:
We recognize that in our history as Ghanaians, there have been few figures who have contributed to value creation on such a scale since the era of Kwame Nkrumah. Today, through ( HSM ) “Hair Senta Mentality”, we aim to carry forward a humanistic philosophy that places infinite respect on the sanctity of life. This philosophy fosters all-encompassing compassion and empowers women to cultivate their inherent beauty, confidence, and wisdom.
Empowerment Through Beauty:
In a time where many women seek empowerment and joy, we believe that the Hair Senta Mentality nurtures the creativity of the human spirit. It helps women to overcome internal crises, enabling them to shine not just in their appearance but in every facet of their lives. Through this philosophy, we aim to uplift women, helping them to embrace their full potential and live fulfilling, empowered lives.

Tsasi :This expression of your mission and values beautifully captures the essence of what you’ve built with Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa. It’s a powerful narrative that aligns with your journey and the impact you’re striving to make in the world.
A Dialogue between Tsasi and Gwen Addo.

Tsasi: “Good afternoon, Gwen. It’s truly an honor to finally meet and speak with you. I’ve been deeply moved by your work with Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa, and I’m excited to discuss the impact you’re making. My name is Tsasi, and I’m here to engage in a meaningful dialogue
about the challenges and triumphs faced by Black women today.”

Gwen Addo : “Good afternoon, Tsasi. The honor is mine. I appreciate your kind words and am equally eager to engage in this important discussion. The journey of Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa has been about more than just beauty—it’s about creating spaces where women can reclaim their power, dignity, and potential. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts.”

Tsasi:
“Thank you, Gwen. We recognize that at no other time in history have Black women experienced such intense oppression, from slavery to discrimination, inequality, poverty, and even the paradox of abundance in the 20th century. The continuous agenda of imperialism
has created a situation where the very survival of women hangs in the balance. The harsh reality is that the selfishness and dominance that lurk in the hearts of imperialists aim to.subdue African women, denying them their rightful place in society.”

Gwen Addo:
“You’ve articulated the struggle so well, Tsasi. It’s a harsh reality that Black women have been subjected to the brutal forces of imperialism, designed to strip away their identity, power, and dignity. However, as you rightly pointed out, there is a greater power within us—what we at Hair Senta call the ‘Hair Senta Mentality’—that stands in stark opposition to these forces. This mentality is rooted in the power of good, in the empowerment of women, and in the belief that beauty is not just physical but a manifestation of inner strength and resilience.”

Tsasi:
“Exactly, Gwen. No matter what justifications are offered, there is absolutely no excuse for the subjugation of women. In my view, the work you’re doing through Hair Senta is a shining example of the power of good—a power that can outshine and overcome the negative forces of imperialism. Through HIBS-Africa, you are not just creating beauty products; you are fostering a movement that empowers women, uplifts communities, and challenges the very structures that seek to oppress us.”

Gwen Addo:
“That’s the goal, Tsasi. Through our efforts, we strive to redefine what it means to be a woman in Africa. We aim to instil in every woman the belief that she is powerful, beautiful, and capable of transforming her life and the lives of those around her. The Hair Senta Mentality is about resilience, creativity, and the unwavering belief in the potential within each of us. It’s about creating a culture where women are not just surviving but thriving.“

Tsasi:
“And that’s precisely why your work is so vital, Gwen. You’re building a legacy of empowerment that will inspire generations to come. It’s a reminder that the power of good, when harnessed through unity and purpose, can indeed overcome any obstacle. I look forward to seeing how Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa continue to make waves and bring about real change for African women.”

Gwen Addo:
“Thank you, Tsasi. I’m deeply committed to this mission, and I’m grateful for allies like you who understand the importance of this work. Together, we can continue to push boundaries, break barriers, and ensure that every woman in Africa knows her worth and her power.”

Tsasi:
“Your commitment is truly inspiring, Gwen. It’s a privilege to stand beside you in this mission. By pushing boundaries and breaking barriers together, we’re not just empowering women—we’re shaping a future where every African woman can stand tall in her worth and power. I’m excited to see the incredible impact we’ll continue to make.” The expression of my admiration for your dedication is to reinforce the shared commitment to our mission, emphasizing the collaborative effort we need to create lasting change for African women.
Tsasi “It is said that ‘a flowered dress is just as hygienic as a white coat, is it not?'”

Gwen Addo:
“Indeed, Tsasi, as long as it is washed regularly. Just like that flowered dress, our efforts with HIBS-Africa are about maintaining and nurturing the beauty and strength of our women. Every year, we use this platform to continue preparing our women, helping them shed the oppressive forces that have subdued African women for so long. I hope to see you there on September 6th and 8th—it will be an event you won’t want to miss.”

Tsasi:
“Knowing you, I have come to realize that our purpose in life is fulfilled by doing our very best right where we are at this moment and by thinking about what we can do to improve the lives of those right around us.”

Gwen Addo: “You’ve beautifully captured the essence of what drives us, Tsasi. By focusing on doing our best right where we are and uplifting those around us, we find true purpose. It’s this mindset that fuels our work with Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and positive change across our communities.”
“‘Why was I born into this world?’
Is a question everyone asks themselves at least once in their life. I believe that having a deep sense of purpose—knowing in the depths of one’s being what one was born for—is a great source of happiness. As one of Ghana’s successful entrepreneurs, I’ve seen that those who lack a real sense of purpose often find themselves in lonely solitude, even after amassing great wealth.
Sometimes, after realizing all their worldly ambitions, they are left with a sense of emptiness and meaninglessness. On the other hand, those who wake up each day with a rewarding sense of purpose, a feeling of tasks accomplished and deep fulfillment, are truly happy. A clear sense of purpose gives birth to courage and wisdom. It enables you to look beyond the victory or defeat of the moment and see things in their true perspective. It can fill each instant of life with joy, even in the midst of trying circumstances.
Whatever their occupation—be it a mother, company employee, artist, fisherman, or farmer—I believe that each person has their own path in life, a unique mission that only they can fulfill.”

Tsasi:
“Discovering Hair Senta and HIBS-Africa as your lifelong purpose or mission, a task to bring out the beauty potential in African women, is truly inspiring. Can I ask, what do Ghanaians consider to be your core business?”

Gwen Addo:
“My response is cure, care, innovation, and empowerment. When people engage with HIBS-Africa, they get better—physically, emotionally, and economically.”

Tsasi:
“May I ask how many exhibitors are coming to HIBS-Africa?”

Gwen Addo:
“Many brands, including Symmetrygears, Silk Haven, and many more who want to be part of the success story of HIBS-Africa.”

Tsasi:
“Thank you, Gwen, for joining us in today’s dialogue. Your insights are very helpful, and I’m sure they will inspire many others as we approach this year’s HIBS-Africa event.”

Gwen Addo:
“Thank you, Tsasi. It’s been a pleasure sharing these thoughts with you. I look forward to seeing the impact we can continue to make together.”

Tsasi : This dialogue concludes with a strong message of purpose, empowerment, and anticipation for the upcoming HIBS-Africa event, leaving the dialogue on an uplifting and forward-looking note.
“The Hair Senta Mentality embodies a powerful approach to value creation, as showcased in the title, ‘The Corporate Story of Hair Senta to HIBS Africa.’ The upcoming HIBS-Africa show is a testament to this mentality, exemplifying the culture of value creation in every aspect.

Gwen Addo:
“Value creation is at the core of everything we do, Tsasi. It’s about continuously finding ways to enrich the lives of those around us and, in doing so, repaying our debts of gratitude to those who have supported us along the way. Just as flowers nourish one another to grow stronger, we must also uplift and empower each other to create a flourishing community of powerful, confident women.”
HIBS-Africa is more than just an even—it’s a platform where we cultivate and showcase the beauty, strength, and potential of African women. This culture of value creation is at the heart of everything we do, from the roots of Hair Senta to the global stage
of HIBS-Africa.”

Thank you Gwen. Your response weaves together the ideas of value creation, gratitude, and mutual support, reinforcing the themes of growth and empowerment within the dialogue.

Tsasi:
“Thank you, Gwen, for sharing your insights and passion with us today. Your dedication to empowering women and fostering a culture of value creation is truly inspiring. I look forward to seeing the impact of this year’s HIBS-Africa show.”
