The Journalist with a Conscience: From Newsroom Ethics to Entrepreneurial Excellence
Featuring Serwaa Amihere β a woman of integrity, vision, and purpose.
By Assumpta Editorial Team
Special Edition | PG18 Feature
In a world where influence often overshadows integrity, Serwaa Amihere stands as a rare forceβan individual who not only commands public attention but earns public trust. Known widely for her eloquence, grace, and commanding presence on screen, Serwaa has evolved into more than just a familiar face on Ghanaian television. She has become a symbol of ethical leadership, a champion of truth, and a pioneer of purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
A Journalist with a Conscience
For years, Serwaa was a dependable figure in the newsroom, representing a voice of reason and balance in Ghanaβs media landscape. She resisted sensationalism, rejected disinformation, and embodied the very essence of journalistic integrity.
βA journalist with a conscience,β the title reads. Itβs not just a catchy phraseβitβs a statement of moral conviction.
Serwaa understood from early in her career that truth is not a commodity, but a commitment. That to misinform Ghanaians is to mislead a nation, and to do harm not only to democracy, but to the dignity of everyday life.
Life Philosophy Rooted in Respect!
At the core of Serwaa Amihereβs journey is a profound belief:

βWhatever our differences, we are inextricably linked to one another, and to the country we all inhabit.β
I believes that all life matters. Every Ghanaian, in my eyes, is a unique and dignified expression of life with untold potential. Itβs this conviction that shaped my transition from journalist to entrepreneur, not out of commercialism or personal ambition, but from a deep sense of duty.
Transforming Everyday Essentials
As she moved into the entrepreneurial space, Serwaa began to notice a disturbing trend: the very essentials Ghanaians rely onβour food, our cosmetics, even what we wearβwere often compromised by low standards, misinformation, and foreign narratives that did not honour the Ghanaian identity.
βWeβve been lied to,β she says. βAnd I refuse to let that continue.β
Thatβs why Serwaa took the bold step to launch products and promote brands that reflect authentic quality, local identity, and ethical sourcingβfrom Flora Organic Diapers to Lois Cosmetics, Sankofa Cooking Spices, and Tango Washing Soaps.
These are not just products. They are expressions of respect for the consumer, for the culture, and for the future of Ghana.
Not Profit, But Purpose
Contrary to the image of the profit-hungry entrepreneur, Serwaaβs motivation is refreshingly rare:

βThe primary reason I ventured into business wasnβt commercialismβit was to challenge the unpleasant lies told to Ghanaians through our everyday essentials.β
I am determined to hold the truth accountable, even in business. My brands are more than ventures; they are missions. They educate. They restore confidence. They put the power of choice and health back into the hands of Ghanaians.
From Ethics to Excellence
This journeyβfrom the newsroom to the marketplaceβwas not a departure, but a natural evolution. The same values that once made her trust in journalism now drive her to pursue excellence in entrepreneurship.
She demands truth in packaging, honesty in advertising, and transparency in ingredients, standards too often lacking in the Ghanaian consumer experience.
Style with Substance
Gracing this issueβs cover, Serwaa dons a soft pink dress by Office and Cobysa and holds a featured product from Lois Cosmetics, radiating both elegance and authenticity. Every visual element mirrors her core belief: that style must serve substance, and that beauty must begin with integrity.
A Leader for a New Era
For readers, this story is more than a feature. Itβs a blueprint for value-driven impact. Whether you’re a young professional, a budding entrepreneur, or someone seeking to live with more intentionβSerwaaβs story reminds us that success without soul is empty.
She invites us to:
- Demand truth
- Honor our health
- Buy with awareness
- And most of all, to live with conscience
Final Word
Serwaa Amihere has proven that greatness isnβt about fame or fortuneβitβs about fearlessly aligning your work with your values. Whether in front of a camera or behind a brand, she remains unwavering in her mission:
To elevate the Ghanaian standard through truth, trust, and transformational essentials.

Presented by Assumpta Lifestyle Magazine
Special Edition: Everyday Essentials | PG18
Introduction to the Voices Youβre About to Hear
In this special feature, we bring together two of Ghanaβs most admired women in media and humanitarian service: Serwaa Amihere and Shirley Emma Tibilla, known to millions as Cookie Tee.
Serwaa Amihere is a celebrated broadcast journalist known for her fierce integrity, eloquence, and nowβher evolution into a purpose-driven entrepreneur. With a focus on truth and ethical living, Serwaa is changing the landscape of everyday consumer products in Ghana.
Cookie Tee is an award-winning TV/radio host, brand ambassador, events curator, and now CEO of Nineteen57 Events. Sheβs known for her charm, brilliance, and consistent advocacy for dignity and purpose in the public space.
Today, Cookie sits down with Serwaa for a powerful and reflective Dialogue on journalism, values, entrepreneurship, and the very essentials of life in Ghana.

Cookie Tee:
Hello, beautiful Serwaa. First, thank you for joining us on this platformβitβs not every day we get to talk to someone who embodies both journalistic grace and entrepreneurial grit.

Serwaa Amihere:
Thank you, Cookie. I admire you deeplyβnot just for your professionalism, but for your heart. Itβs a joy to share this space with you and your audience.

Cookie Tee:
Letβs get right into it. Serwaa, youβve studied and practised journalism at a high level, holding the responsibility of delivering the truth to Ghanaians. Now, we see you entering entrepreneurship, especially around everyday essentials. Was this shift driven by a desire for commercial success, or is it something deeperβsomething Ghanaians have been waiting for?

Serwaa Amihere:
Itβs deeper. You see, my time in the newsroom taught me that truth is not only about factsβitβs about what we live with every day. The food we eat. The creams we use. The diapers our babies wear. The soaps we wash with. If these things are full of misinformation, we are in danger, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually.
So no, it wasnβt commercialism that pushed me. It was a callingβto respond to the silent cries of Ghanaians whoβve been fed lies, sold inferior products, and made to believe they donβt deserve better.
Truth in Journalism Meets Truth in Products;

Cookie Tee:
Thatβs powerful. But what do you say to people who still think, βItβs just business. Everyoneβs selling somethingβ?

Serwaa Amihere:
Then I askβwhat are we selling?
Are we selling truth, or are we selling harm?
Because when you bombard people with low-quality goods, false labels, and deceptive advertising, you strip them of agency. You weaken their trust. You make them feel they are not worth quality. That is a dangerous place to be. And thatβs why I entered this spaceβto flip the narrative.

The Philosophy Behind the Mission
Cookie Tee:
Your messaging is rooted in care and respect. Talk to me about that philosophy that guides you.

Serwaa Amihere:
I truly believe that all life is sacred. No matter our differences, we are all interconnectedβperson to person, community to nation.
So when we pollute the market with harmful goods or spread misinformation, we are not just hurting othersβwe are hurting ourselves. Our environment suffers, our children suffer, and our self-worth deteriorates. Thatβs why everything I promoteβfrom Lois Cosmetics to Sankofa Spicesβis a reflection of dignity. I want people to know: you matter. What you use on your skin, what you cook with, how your home smellsβit all matters. Because you matter

Entrepreneurial Purpose Beyond Profit:
Cookie Tee:
Youβre not just curating products; youβre challenging an entire mindset.

Serwaa Amihere:
Exactly. This isnβt just businessβitβs a revolution of values.
I want to restore the Ghanaian consumerβs confidence. To say, you donβt need to settle for less.
You deserve transparency. You deserve quality.
And if I have to fight marketing myths, reject certain suppliers, or refuse to endorse what doesnβt align with our vision, so be it.

From Media to Markets: A Natural Evolution:
Cookie Tee:
So for you, moving from journalism to entrepreneurship wasnβt a change of course, but a continuation of your mission?

Serwaa Amihere:
Absolutely. In journalism, I fought for the truth with words. Now, I fight for the truth with products. The battlefield has changed, but the mission remains the same:
To inform, to protect, and to empower.

Final Words for the Nation
Cookie Tee:
Last one, Serwaa. If you could leave one message with every Ghanaian listening right now, what would it be?

Serwaa Amihere:
Iβd say this: Donβt underestimate the impact of your everyday choices.
What you use, what you buy, what you believeβit all shapes our future. Letβs not be passive consumers of products or information. Letβs be intentional. Letβs demand better because we are worth it.

Closing Reflections: A Conversation in Truth
Cookieteegh:
Serwaa-Amihere, Iβm in full support of your entrepreneurial initiative. You are creating real change. Itβs not just about businessβitβs about belief. A move that highlights the philosophy of how each person, with intention, can make a difference.

Serwaa takes a breath, visibly moved.
Serwaa-Amihere:
In this country of ours that has long been oppressed and bombarded with fake news and disinformation, my entrepreneurial path is a response. Itβs a response to our urgent need for truthβand to restore sustainable living built on that truth.
And you know, Cookie, I have tremendous optimism about the future of this nation. I know who I am, and that means I know I can effect change in my own lifeβand the lives of others. Thatβs how we contribute. Thatβs how we heal.

Final Frame (Visual or Text Slide):
βTruth is not a slogan. It is a responsibility.β β Serwaa Amihere#AssumptaApproved | #EverydayEssentials | #MadeWithConscience
Closing Reflections
As the conversation ends, itβs clear that I, Serwaa Amihere, am not just building a brandβi am building a movement.
And with admiration, you get the sense that this exchange between two powerful Ghanaian women is just the beginning of a larger national awakening.
