Prologue: Deloris Frimpong Manso:

(Born June 25, 1982)
Popularly known as “Delay,” Deloris is a trailblazing Ghanaian entrepreneur, TV and radio host, producer, public speaker, and women’s advocate. Educated at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School and Methodist University College Ghana, she entered broadcasting at just 17 with Life FM. Her path took her through Top Radio and eventually Oman FM, where she made her mark.
In 2008, she launched The Delay Show on TV3—transforming herself into a household name. By 2011, she had written and produced the hit comedy Afia Schwarzenegger. Through her production company, Maxgringo Productions, she followed with Cocoa Brown, a series inspired by her journey. As a businesswoman, she also launched Delay Mackerel and Sardines, encouraging youth and women to build businesses of their own.
Delay has spoken at major events like the International Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) and the Women’s CEO Summit, continually using her platform to inspire. She is often referred to as “the Oprah Winfrey of Ghanaian media.” In 2022, she boldly announced her aspiration to become Ghana’s first female president by 2032, showcasing that no goal is too big when responsibility leads the way.
EDITOR’S NOTE: A Creative Life in Motion
In this edition of Assumpta Lifestyle Magazine, we celebrate the bold, the visionary, and the unapologetically creative. At the heart of our feature is Deloris Frimpong Manso—a woman who doesn’t wait for doors to open; she builds her own. Her journey reflects not only success but empowerment through action, leadership through innovation, and a redefinition of what it means to thrive as a woman in business.
Her fashion speaks volumes—elegant yet commanding. A pristine white gown symbolises vision and purpose; a beaded red dress speaks of power and passion. These choices reflect more than style—they are a statement of self-worth and fearless individuality.
Through Deloris, we explore what it truly means to live a Creative Life—a life rooted in boldness, equality, and entrepreneurial spirit. Welcome to the issue.
Empowerment Through Responsibility
The Creative Journey of Deloris Frimpong Manso
For women and girls in Ghana—a nation rich in culture, resources, and resilience—life can still be constrained by poverty, tradition, and inequality. Despite the nation’s promise, many are denied opportunity, and women are especially burdened by societal norms that marginalise them.

Yet, even in such environments, transformation begins—with responsibility.
A sense of responsibility empowers women to value life, pursue knowledge, and fight for well-being. It condemns poverty and misery not just as conditions, but as mindsets. It is this belief that shapes the life of Deloris Frimpong Manso. Rather than wait for recognition or permission, she chose to act—to create, to lead, and to uplift.
Her journey—from her teenage years on radio, to creating The Delay Show, to launching a production company and food brand—embodies the spirit of conscious creativity. She used her platforms not only to succeed but to inspire a new generation of women to dream beyond survival.
Deloris teaches us that responsibility is power. Through commitment, purpose, and courage, she reshaped her destiny—and in doing so, opened doors for countless others.
This is the creativity we honour in this edition:
The kind that builds.
The kind that dares.
The kind that takes responsibility.
A Dialogue on Creative Life & Responsibility:
With Deloris Frimpong Manso
Interviewed by Cookieteegh for Assumpta Weekly Magazine:

Cookieteegh:
“We can’t hope to build a better Ghana without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his or her improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all those who are weak. Because we must aid those who are weak to stand up for themselves and take responsibility, too.”
Ms. Deloris, how do you see the role of personal responsibility in shaping not only individual lives but also an empowered society?

Deloris Frimpong Manso:
Thank you, Cookieteegh. That opening speaks to the core of my journey. Responsibility is where change begins. I did not wait for an opportunity—I created it. For me, responsibility means deciding not to remain a victim of circumstances, but rather, to become a designer of your own destiny. That’s what guided me from my early days on radio to building platforms that elevate others.

Cookieteegh:
Taking Responsibility for My Life.
Second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda once said:
“To change one’s life, to transform it at the very core, one must struggle against great evil. Change cannot be achieved by merely accumulating small good deeds like many minute particles of dust. Only in battling against great evil can the mountain of great good, of benefit and fortune, be built.” (Faith into Action, p. 217) Has that philosophy ever felt real in your own life?

Deloris:
Absolutely. After my mother died in 2003, I was forced into a new reality. I had to care for my siblings while putting my dreams on hold. I could’ve seen that loss as the end, but instead, it became a turning point. I’ve come to understand that the way we respond to trials determines whether they break us or build us. I thank some truly wonderful friends who stood close to me. Their belief helped turn that pain into purpose.

Cookieteegh:
SGI President Daisaku Ikeda says, “Youth means to cherish hope; it is a time of development. Youth means to challenge oneself; it is a time of construction. Youth means to fight for justice; it is a time of action.” (Faith Into Action, p. 81)
Your journey has been complex, transforming from an introverted, vulnerable, hesitant girl into a confident woman of action. Would you reflect on that transformation?

Deloris:
To introduce myself fully: I’m Deloris Frimpong Manso, widely known as “Delay.” Born on June 24, 1982, in Nkawkaw, I was raised by my mother, a woman of incredible strength and self-belief. She passed away when I was 21. That moment shook me to the core.
With her gone, I took a two-year break from my growing broadcasting career to care for my siblings. I’d started on Life FM at just 17, and although I later studied at Methodist University College, financial pressures made it hard to continue. But I never lost the will to rise. I had to evolve from self-doubt into self-worth. From silence into voice. That growth came with scars, but today, my vulnerability is my strength.

Cookieteegh:
You’ve built a brand, a platform, and a business empire. In this edition of Assumpta, our theme is Creative Life. What does that term mean to you?

Deloris:
A creative life is not just about ideas—it’s about bold execution. It’s what you do when there’s no clear path. Creativity helped me launch The Delay Show, write and produce Afia Schwarzenegger, build Maxgringo Productions, and even create my own food brand, Delay Mackerel and Sardines. Every step was me saying: “I will not be defined by limitation.” That is what creativity means—freedom through responsibility.

Cookieteegh:
And the phrase we chose for your feature, “She builds instead of waiting”—how does that reflect your ethos?

Deloris:
It reflects my life in every sense. I didn’t wait to be chosen. I became the one who chooses. I saw a gap and filled it. I saw silence and spoke. So many women are still waiting to be seen, to be given permission. But we must teach them that they are already enough. Start. Even if you’re scared. Start anyway.

Cookieteegh:
Your bold declaration—to run for president by 2032—stirred headlines across Africa. Some call it audacious, others say it’s impossible. What do you say?

Deloris:
I say it’s necessary. If I don’t show that a woman can dream that big, who will? This isn’t about ego—it’s about legacy. I want the girl from a small town, raised by a single mother, told she can’t… to know she can. Leadership is not about power. It’s about service. And it’s time more women take the lead in shaping our future.

Cookieteegh:
Thank you, Delay, for your honesty, your fire, and your sense of responsibility. You’ve turned hardship into hope and passion into purpose through your story. Ghana, and the world, are watching—and learning.
