The Journey to Self-Discovery: A Reflection by Joselyn Dumas

Nothing in life is truly self-made. We are all shaped by the people around us—parents, guardians, mentors, supporters, critics, friends, and teachers—who help us perfect our craft and guide us toward our purpose.
Finding who you truly are is a discipline that requires time, focus, honesty, meditation, reflection, patience, research, debate, redefinition, and revisions. Without this process, true self-awareness remains elusive, and you may never fully understand your beliefs, values, and purpose in life.
For me, self-discovery has been a transformative journey, helping me clarify and refine my position on issues that affect humanity as a whole.

After completing my secondary education, the people I encountered played a crucial role in expanding my vision and shaping my career path. Becoming a TV host was made possible by those who believed in me, mentored me, and guided me through the industry.
Among them were moral, spiritual, and influential supporters who not only nurtured my talents but also encouraged me to pursue acting, further broadening my ability to inspire, educate, and entertain.
Through this journey, I have come to understand that true success is not an individual achievement but a collective effort of those who uplift, challenge, and shape us along the way.
The Anointed Man of God: A Journey of Faith, Service, and Reflection
In the waning years of the twentieth century, I found myself in a state of deep disappointment. It was not just millennial malaise—it was an inconsolable despair that weighed heavily on my spirit.

Day after day, I worked tirelessly in my small, book-lined office, committed to my calling as a Man of God who couldn’t wait to serve his country, Ghana. I longed to see a transformation in my people, a rekindling of faith, unity, and national purpose.
For many years, I had strived to realize the vision of our great leaders—men and women like Yaa Asantewaa and Kwame Nkrumah, who fought for equality, justice, and peace in Ghana and beyond. Their legacy inspired me to design and implement courses, workshops, conferences, and educational exchanges, aimed at instilling a progressive Christian consciousness in my students—many of whom would become pastors, theologians, ethicists, biblical scholars, engineers, and philosophers dedicated to preaching the Gospel.

Through all my endeavours and toils, my greatest contribution has been to the people of Ghana. Yet, despite my efforts, I still felt grief over all that remained unaccomplished. I looked around and saw that church attendance remained meagre. Instead of coming together in worship and praise, Muslims and Christians lived apart, divided rather than united.
By reflecting on Yaa Asantewaa and Kwame Nkrumah, we can embrace a cosmic perspective that unites us—a call to action to reclaim our rights from the colonial forces that sought to divide us. Their struggle was not just about political independence; it was about the dignity, unity, and empowerment of all Ghanaians.

As I continue my journey as an Anointed Man of God, I remain committed to bridging these divides, fostering unity, and helping my people rediscover their spiritual and national identity. The work is far from over, but I stand firm in faith, believing that a united Ghana is possible.

Joselyn Dumas: Good evening, and welcome to Aboronoma LifeStyle Magazine’s special feature, Children Who Live With Ignorance. I’m your host, Joselyn Dumas, and today, we have a truly remarkable guest—the Anointed Man of God, a preacher whose wisdom, faith, and passion for Ghana have transformed countless lives.
Reverend, it’s an honour to have you here with us. How are you feeling today?

Anointed Man of God: Thank you, Joselyn. It’s truly a blessing to be here. I feel humbled and grateful to share this moment with you and the readers of Aboronoma LifeStyle Magazine. Ghana needs conversations like this—ones that awaken the soul and challenge us to become better.

Joselyn Dumas: Absolutely! Your journey as a preacher and thought leader has been profound. Before we dive deeper, can you take us back to the moment when you realized your calling?

Anointed Man of God: It was in the waning years of the twentieth century, a time of deep disappointment for me. It wasn’t just millennial anxiety; it was a profound sense of despair. I spent days and nights in my small, book-lined office, tirelessly seeking ways to serve my country, Ghana.
I reflected on the great men and women who came before us—Yaa Asantewaa, Kwame Nkrumah—visionaries who fought for equality, justice, and peace. Their dreams were my dreams. I wanted to continue their legacy, to instill a progressive Christian consciousness in the next generation.

Joselyn Dumas: That’s incredibly powerful. You mentioned that you designed and implemented courses, workshops, and conferences to shape the minds of young scholars. Can you tell us more about that?

Anointed Man of God: Certainly. Over the years, I have trained pastors, theologians, ethicists, biblical scholars, engineers, and philosophers, all preparing to go out into the world to preach the Gospel and serve humanity. But despite all these efforts, I felt grief over what remained unaccomplished.
I observed how church attendance dwindled. I saw Muslims and Christians living apart, rather than embracing unity and shared faith in God. The division was heartbreaking. It reminded me of how the colonialists once sought to separate us, and I knew we had to reclaim our unity.

Joselyn Dumas: That’s a crucial conversation we need to have as a nation. Reverend, your journey resonates deeply with me because, as you know, I have also been on my path of self-discovery.
For me, finding who I truly am requires time, focus, honesty, meditation, patience, and reflection. It was a transformative journey—one that helped me clarify my purpose and refine my beliefs.

Anointed Man of God: And that, Joselyn, is what makes you a beacon of hope for millions of Ghanaians. Through your television programs, films, and work with Aboronoma LifeStyle Magazine, you have empowered people, educated them, and inspired them to break free from fear, insecurity, and societal stereotypes.

Joselyn Dumas: Thank you, Reverend. I truly believe that success is not an individual achievement. It is shaped by the mentors, teachers, critics, and supporters who guide us along the way. When I became a TV host, I met people who expanded my vision and encouraged me to pursue acting—a platform where I could educate, entertain, and uplift.
But one thing I have learned is that we must be intentional in how we serve others. Reverend, in your experience, how can people become more aware of their spiritual and national identity?

Anointed Man of God: It begins with knowledge and self-awareness. When we reflect on leaders like Yaa Asantewaa and Kwame Nkrumah, we realize that their mission was not just political—it was a spiritual awakening, a fight for dignity, unity, and empowerment.
We must break free from the chains of ignorance that keep us from discovering our true potential. Faith should not divide us; it should bring us together. That is the message I have committed my life to spreading.

Joselyn Dumas: That is a message we all need to hear! Reverend, before we wrap up, what final words would you like to leave with our audience?

Anointed Man of God: This: Do not live in ignorance of who you are. Seek knowledge, embrace faith, and walk in your purpose. Our nation needs people of wisdom, people of action, people who refuse to be divided by religion or societal norms. Ghana’s future is bright, but only if we unite as one people, under one God, with one vision for our nation.

Joselyn Dumas: Reverend, this conversation has been deeply moving. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your journey with us. We look forward to seeing how your message continues to transform lives.
And to our readers—remember, self-discovery and purpose are within your reach. Seek knowledge, find your calling, and never live ignorant of who you are.
Stay tuned for more inspiring stories on Aboronoma LifeStyle Magazine. Until next time, be blessed!
