Hamamat: Interactions with our environment shape our lives in profound ways, both human life and country. Our surroundings and natural resources significantly influence our well-being and culture. Though we owe our country a great deal, there’s a small, specific part of our country which we have neglected from all its natural benefits. It’s a means of reminding us of the greater contributions we can make to our lives and the lives of others abroad.
Tsasi: That’s a powerful message. Can you elaborate on how this relates to Shea Butter?
Hamamat: This gift of Shea Butter from our natural environment is full of ingredients and vitamins that support our skin, hair, and overall body. We in Ghana are sometimes confused and misled by persons and groups who have vested interests in organisations or institutions abroad. They erroneously worship money and have made us disregard the culture that has guided us till this day.
Tsasi: It’s crucial to recognize and embrace our natural resources. Can you tell me more about your background and journey with Shea Butter?
Hamamat: My name is Hamamat Montia. Born on July 22, 1988, I am a Ghanaian model and a former Miss Malaika queen. Starting as a model, I was elected Miss Malaika in 2006 and Model of Africa Universe in 2007. I sell Shea Butter, soap, and other products handmade in Ghana. I am from Bolgatanga in the Upper East region of Ghana and got my high school education at Achimota School. I am now 36 years old and a mother of two daughters and one son.
Tsasi: That’s impressive, Hamamat. Your journey is inspiring. How did you discover the transformative power of Shea Butter?
