In the light of former president John Dramani Mahama’s speech: “Building The Ghana We Want.” AssumptaGH Publications highlight on some important prophecies he made during his speech.
Of all of former president Mahama’s speeches, this very one seems slightly different despite over years of divisive political ideologies. In recent years some kind of collaboration should have emerged in Ghana for his politics to remain fruitful.
In his bold and imaginative action, former president Jerry John Rawlings, founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a social democratic political party in Ghana, from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001.
This was unprecedented since Rawlings himself was a Ghanaian an Ewe, his initiative in appointing Atta Mills as his vice was a clear stroke of Rawlings faith that what Fantes, Ewes, Northerners, Ga, Ashantis, share in common is much more powerful than that what divides them, and that Ghanaians of goodwill must work together and be enriched by their diversity, not fearful of it, if we are to build a landscape of a peaceful, prosperous, democratic Ghana.
A citation most commonly used in politics to place on record of history, sometimes true and sometimes false, force battles or contestants to have the version of their stories be accepted by voters is seen in former president John Mahama’s speech from paragraph (25 / 51).

I cannot help feeling that these words were in Mr John Mahama’s mind?

As one began his politics as vice president, you learned all the strategies needed to attract massive voters.
I don’t find his speech as his own inner reformation and his discovery of how significant it is to cease prophesying constantly about his rebirth and that of the NDC party and how he want to rebuild Ghana’s economy.
The realism of the NPP party teaches Ghanaians something very important for all of us to note that, even when Ghana’s poverty and prosperity is achieved, it can never be an end in itself, for the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance are inherent ingredients of the negative, destructive impulse of our lives which constantly challenge our positive, creative energy is still more powerful.
Victory of the NPP was therefore sustained by the fighting spirit of president Nana Akufo Addo, a man who never ceased taking up challenges to bring peace, culture, Tradition and development to Ghana to repay his debts of gratitude for the nation.

As the former president John Mahama pointed out in paragraph (30) In his speech that: “Together, we will build the Ghana we want. We shall restore faith in our almost collapsed financial system and embark on sweeping reforms at the Bank of Ghana. What is your take on this?

As I pointed out earlier. I consider what has been between the industrial countries and Ghana is that, the so-called multinational corporations operating in Ghana, are the central problem of the country’s growing gaps and debts.
Ghanaians can never understand the problem until the former president John Mahama with much experience in politics explained it in detail on how Ghana accumulated its debts.
- The question we should all ask, as Ghanaians is: ” What did Ghana buy from the Americans and the European Union without paying?
- Or what did America and the European Union sell to Ghana and Ghana couldn’t pay with all the mineral resources Africa has?
When you look at the philosophy of colonialism, civilization, Christianity, and Commerce overview.
As the imperial powers of Europe set their sights on new geographic regions to expand their spheres of influence in the 19th century, Africa emerged as a prime location for colonisation due to its wealth of natural resources and purportedly undeveloped economies ripe for exploitation.
In reality, European colonisation devastated traditional African societies and economies.
However, the leaders spearheading the movement cited the “white man’s burden,” a term popularised in Rudyard Kipling’s poem to morally justify imperialist expansion.
The philosophy underpinning the “White Man’s Burden” consisted of the “Three C’s of Colonialism: Civilization, Christianity, and Commerce.”

Today we talk about Africa, one seen by Europe as the antithesis of civilization, the heart of darkness in the words of Joseph Conrad.

Poverty and hunger has been Africa’s most serious problem. Africa remains ignored, it makes news for its conflicts, poverty and exhaust racism. For the longest time, the world saw it as a lost cause, then China saw the opportunity and that began a new race for Africa.
Indeed china’s policies are, very different from that of the scramble of the 19 century when colonial Britain and France wanted raw materials and mineral resources, slaves and geopolitical influence.
Now in the 21st century, global powers are more or less in the same race, including China, United States, India, Japan, European Union. Israel, and Canada, all of these countries are in the race for Africa, only China is committed to promoting development, culture, and education and modernisation without sanctioning any country or removing their leaders
Despite the fact that, Africa is a continent of 54 sovereign states, 17% of the world’s population, 9.6% of the global oil output, 90% of the world’s platinum supply, 90% of world’s cobalt supply, 1/2 of the world’s gold supply, ⅔ of the world’s manganese, 35% of the world’s Uranium, 75% of the world’s Coltan.
Certainly, we have heard more than enough of the theory of Africa’s debts, this is unacceptable truth because with such mineral resources Africa can never own debts.
Since the imperialist forces such impossible obligations on Africans, it necessarily makes them hypocrites. So far I have explained the defective side of former president John Mahama’s speech.
I mean no secret that I am a NPP 100%.I am all for Ghana to become prosperous, there is nothing we can do to fix what’s he mismanaged during his governance
Ghanaians will continue voting for the NPP. And that is where Ghanaians today stand.
I am not just talking, but things that the NPP government has done is something I will describe as peace and prosperity.
It is so clear that anyone can recognised the trust of the NPP government. Stopping the NDC means stopping the predatory cunning foreign merchants to control the Ghanaian economy.

You are right, the greater a crisis, the more we need leaders who will carry out changes with courage and fortitude. I also think it is crucial to strengthen the power of people to prevent politics from swinging towards extremism.
Those awakened to the critical realities of our time must join hands to defend justice and freedom for Africans
