Tsasi: Good morning, Baaba. It’s a pleasure to meet you Baaba. You are the CEO of GOBA Kente Ltd. And very passionate about weaving together success, innovation, and social impact through your work as an entrepreneur.

Baaba-Ankrah. Good morning, Tsasi. It’s wonderful to finally connect with you.

Tsasi : I’ve heard so much about the incredible work you’re doing with GOBA Kente. I’m Tsasi, and I’m really looking forward to our dialogue today. Could you share a bit about your journey?

Baaba Ankrah: Absolutely, Tsasi. Five years ago, I was on the path to becoming a chartered banker after a promising six-year career in the banking industry. However, something inside me urged me to pursue a different path. Driven by my deep appreciation for art and culture, I made the bold decision to leave the stability of banking and embrace the challenge of entrepreneurship.

Tsasi: That’s truly inspiring, Baaba. It’s not easy to leave a stable career, especially one as established as yours in banking. What was it that sparked this change for you?

Baaba Ankrah: I saw untapped potential in Kente, not just as a fabric but as a symbol of Ghanaian heritage and a canvas for innovation. This realisation led me to create GOBA Kente Ltd., a company that celebrates the beauty of Kente and aims to transform how the world perceives and experiences this iconic Ghanaian art form.

Tsasi : That’s remarkable. Your vision goes beyond just business, doesn’t it?

Baaba Ankrah: Yes, it does. My mission is about more than just building a successful company. I’m committed to empowering local artisans, promoting sustainable practices, and creating opportunities for communities through the art of Kente weaving. Through GOBA Kente, I want to inspire others to recognize their own potential, to pursue their passions fearlessly, and to make a positive impact in the world.

Tsasi: You are someone who is fully awakened to the jewel-like dignity of your own life. Is that what makes you capable of truly respecting that same treasure in others?

Baaba Ankrah: My journey of tapping into my inner potential for art has taught me that nothing happens by chance. Everything has meaning. We must be convinced that our inner life is already endowed with everything we need. No matter how difficult our situation may be, we are alive now, and there is no treasure more precious than life itself.

Tsasi:. It’s often said that “Life, in all its forms, possesses a fundamental desire to create value.”

Baaba Ankrah: That’s true. Value is a relative notion, and in this world, which is a tapestry of relationships, life is always seeking to create ever better connections—ever greater value. Life strives to weave a more beautiful tapestry, a more useful one, a better one. All life, in whatever form, seeks to transcend its present state in pursuit of perfection. That’s why I decided to step away from banking and dive into GOBA Kente, to make it better known and more impactful.

Tsasi: Life’s natural tendency is towards the flowering of potential and limitless advancement. And faith is the key that enables us to unlock the full realm of possibilities within our lives. Human life possesses a potential deeper than the great wide ocean and vaster than the sky. We may feel like giving up and resigning ourselves to our present circumstances, thinking, “There is no way.” But by breaking down these barriers in our minds, we can live vibrant lives, filled with powerful life force like the sun.

Baaba Ankrah:. That’s exactly right. Life is filled with unfathomable potential. Through my own experiences, I’ve come to see the enormous power life holds. That’s why we must never write anyone off, including ourselves. Often, our so-called limitations are nothing more than our decision to limit ourselves. Each of us must seek to discover the particular theme or motif that will characterize our life. An attitude of intense, undaunted seriousness toward each fleeting moment can open up a whole new life for us. The full realization of one’s inner potential can be achieved only through interaction with the world of everyday reality.

Tsasi:
(1) What kind of future do you envision for yourself, Baaba?
(2) What kind of self are you trying to develop?
(3) What do you want to accomplish in your life?

Baaba Ankrah: The key is to paint a clear vision of my life in my heart, as specifically as possible. That “painting” itself becomes the design of my future. The power of the heart enables us to actually create with our lives a wonderful masterpiece in accordance with that design. One thing is certain: the power of belief and thought will move reality in the direction of what we believe and conceive of it. If you really believe you can do something, you can. That is a fact. When you clearly envision the outcome of victory, engrave it upon your heart, and are firmly convinced that you will attain it, your brain makes every effort to realize the mental image you have created. And then, through your unceasing efforts, that victory is finally made a reality.

Tsasi: So you’re saying that everything depends on what is in our hearts. If we decide something is impossible, then even something that is possible will become impossible for us. But if we have the confidence that we can definitely achieve something, then we are already one step closer to making it a reality.

Baaba Ankrah:. Exactly. One of the fascinating things about human beings is this: if you believe for long enough that you are not as smart as others, it can actually lead to intellectual ineptitude. But if you choose to believe that your mind is merely dormant, lacking exercise, and begin to train it, there are no bounds to what you can achieve.

Tsasi: “The heart is what is important.” There is nothing more vulnerable, nothing more corruptible than the human mind; nor is there anything as powerful, steadfast, and ennobling. Thank you, Baaba, for sharing your journey and insights. It’s been truly inspiring.

Baaba Ankrah: Thank you, Tsasi. It’s been a pleasure to discuss these ideas with you. I’m excited to continue this journey of growth and impact.
