In a recent interview, Rowland shared her inspiration for creating this group. “Music speaks to the heart,” she said. “It strikes universal inner chords to create a harmony of empathy and friendship. Music as a Catalyst for Change :

Kelly Rowland and the Destiny Hold Group have proven that music is more than just entertainment—it’s a powerful medium for change. Their efforts are a reminder of how culture can transcend boundaries, inspire empathy, and bring people closer together.
In Rowland’s words: “Music is a universal prayer for peace, a declaration of our shared humanity, and a celebration of our dignity. That’s what Destiny Hold is about—connecting the world, one song at a time.”
Kelly Rowland’s story is one of harmony—an artist whose voice resonates with the rhythms of history, identity, and resilience. In “Cultural Chords,” she explores the power of reconnection: with our roots, with one another, and with the world at large.

This special feature reflects on the hidden journeys of black women—those who endured unimaginable trials as they were uprooted from their homelands and carried to the Americas. Despite being torn from their cultural foundations, they nurtured resilience and beauty, creating melodies of survival and triumph.
Today, Kelly Rowland seeks to amplify these “cultural chords,” reminding black women of the inherent strength and dignity woven into their heritage. Through her artistry and fashion, she calls for a revival of connection—a restoration of the bonds that give life meaning and purpose.
“Our disconnection is the deepest tragedy,” Kelly reflects. “But through unity and creativity, we can reawaken the cultural rhythm that has always defined us.”

Restoring Our Connections with the World;
The modern black woman stands at a crossroads. Disconnected from the cosmos, fractured by societal pressures, and distanced from the unity that once defined her existence, she faces the profound challenge of restoring her connections with the world.

Kelly Rowland’s poignant message, “She Speaks Directly to the Heart,” offers a way forward. Through her music, artistry, and advocacy, Kelly inspires black women to reclaim their voices, rebuild their bonds, and ignite a renewed sense of pride and dignity.
Looking back, black women endured unimaginable trials—ripped from their homelands and forced into lives of hardship during the transatlantic slave trade. Yet, even in the face of oppression, they forged strength, wisdom, and community. Today, Kelly highlights a new struggle: the silent alienation many black women feel in a world that often overlooks their value.
Kelly’s mission is clear : to reconnect black women with themselves, their communities, and the broader world. Through art and fashion, she aims to restore the lost vitality and joy that comes from shared experiences and mutual support. As Kelly explains:
“We must break free from the chaos and jealousy that divide us. The creative freedom in our souls cannot remain trapped in hate and isolation. Now is the time to rebuild our connections—with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us.”

This reconnection is vital. By embracing the black feminist spirit, black women can reignite the energy, wisdom, and solidarity that has carried them through centuries of struggle. Kelly calls for a collective awakening—one where black women not only reclaim their place in the world but transform it through their brilliance and creativity.
Kelly Rowland’s vision is more than a message; it’s a movement. A call to restore unity, heal fragmentation, and build a future where every black woman can thrive—fully connected to the cosmos, her community, and her own boundless strength.
Dialogue Between Kelly Rowland and Tsasi :

Tsasi: Good day, Kelly! It’s such a privilege to speak with you today. Your work and vision have touched so many hearts, and I can’t wait to dive into this incredible conversation with you. How are you doing?

Kelly Rowland :Thank you so much, Tsasi! It’s a real pleasure to be here. I’m doing well, just deeply inspired and grateful for the opportunity to share a message of empowerment with the world. There’s so much that’s been stirring in my heart lately, and I’m excited to talk about it.

Tsasi : Absolutely, and I can feel that energy just from reading your words. Your upcoming feature in Assumpta Weekly Magazine, especially in the article “She Speaks Directly to the Heart,” is so moving. You talk about inspiring courage, beauty, and pride, which are themes so close to my heart. What would you say is at the core of that message you’re sharing with the world?
Kelly Rowland: At the core of it all, I believe in reconnecting to who we are, our true essence. Black women, especially, have been disconnected from their roots, from their communities, and sometimes even from their inner strength. Through my music and work, I hope to help ignite a sense of pride in who we are strength, our beauty, and our wisdom. There’s a power in reclaiming our voices and coming together to create something that sparks to our shared identity.

Tsasi : That’s such a powerful point. In the special feature “Cultural Chords” you mention how black women, throughout history, have endured immense trials. The legacy of resilience, especially considering the transatlantic slave trade, is undeniable. How does that legacy influence the way you view your artistry?

Kelly Rowland : It’s everything, Tsasi. The trials black women have faced, being torn from their homelands and forced into situations of unimaginable hardship, have shaped us into who we are today. But they also created this undeniable strength, this ability to rise again, again, and again. Through my artistry, I want to amplify that legacy and remind women of the resilience that is embedded in our culture. When I perform or create, it’s like I’m channelling the voices of those who came before us—the ones who fought for our existence and for our right to be heard.

Tsasi.: Wow. And you speak about reconnection as a central theme—reconnecting with ourselves, with each other, and with the world around us. That’s such a vital message. Do you think the modern black woman faces a unique challenge in this area today, in terms of feeling disconnected?

Kelly Rowland.: Yes, absolutely. The modern black woman is at a crossroads. Many of us feel disconnected—not just from our heritage, but even from each other. Society has created these divisions—whether it’s through jealousy, competition, or simply not understanding the depth of our struggles and triumphs. There’s this need to break free from those constraints, to rise above the chaos and reconnect to our true selves, our shared experiences, and our cultural roots. Art, fashion, and even simple acts of community are the ways to do that. It’s time we unite and heal from those fractures.

Tsasi : That’s so true. And you’re right—unity and creativity are key to rebuilding these bonds. In Restoring Our Connections with the World, you talk about the importance of embracing the black feminist spirit, which resonates deeply. Can you expand on how you see this movement influencing the future of black women?

Kelly Rowland : The black feminist spirit is one of empowerment, self-love, and collective strength. It’s not just about fighting for our rights—it’s about embracing all that we are and using that power to transform the world around us. It’s about encouraging black women to be bold, to speak out, and to create. The future, in my eyes, is a world where black women lead, where we thrive and build a future that’s rooted in unity, creativity, and solidarity. We are the creators of culture, and we have the power to shape the future in ways that reflect the fullness of who we are.

Tsasi : Yes! Reclaiming that power and celebrating our creativity is truly transformative. Your vision is a movement, Kelly. A call for healing, unity, and restoration. You’ve already inspired so many through your artistry, and I can’t wait for the upcoming Shine feature to reach even more hearts.

Kelly Rowland : Thank you, Tsasi. I’m humbled by your words. This journey is about all of us, not just me. I hope that the message reaches those who need to hear it, and I hope we continue to inspire and uplift one another as we move forward together.

Tsasi : Restoring Our Connections with the World. Cultural Chords: A Celebration of Heritage, Resilience, and Artistry.
As the conversation draws to a close, I want to ask you Kelly Rowland; Your words echo the importance of cultural reconnection, empowerment, and the unbreakable bond that ties black women to their roots, their communities, and each other. Through your artistry and vision, you have continued to strike powerful cultural chords—reminding us all that the path forward lies in unity, creativity, and embracing the rich tapestry of our heritage.

Kelly Rowland : Yes. In the spirit of Cultural Chords, my call for renewal and restoration remains clear: it’s time for black women to reclaim their power, rebuild their connections, and inspire the world with their brilliance, strength, and boundless creativity.

Tsasi : I have no doubt it will. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, Kelly. This conversation has been a blessing, and I’m so excited for everyone to experience Shine and the beautiful story you’re telling through it.

Kelly Rowland: Thank you, Tsasi. It’s been an honour. Let’s continue to shine and support each other as we build a future that reflects our strength, beauty, and collective power.
This dialogue seamlessly connects the themes of Cultural Chords and Restoring Our Connections with the World, reflecting Kelly Rowland’s vision of empowerment, unity, and reclaiming identity. It encapsulates her message of black women embracing their heritage, strength, and creative potential to create a more connected and unified world.
