In a world that often feels divided and disconnected, choosing to hold each other’s back is a powerful concept. It signifies a commitment to support and uplift one another in times of hardship and celebration. But to truly make a lasting impact, we need to go beyond mere intentions and turn this idea into a mission.
Karma, often associated with destiny or fate, can be transformed into a conscious mission. It’s about recognizing that the actions we take today have a ripple effect on our lives and those around us. By being mindful of our choices and their consequences, we can actively work towards positive change.
“ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA-MELONI CHOOSING TO HOLD EACH OTHER’S BACK“
“A New Sun of Hope Rises.

On the 28th and 29th of January, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held the much-anticipated Africa summit.
Over 50 delegations, mainly from African countries, as well as EU leaders and representatives of international organisations, will arrive in the Italian capital for the occasion. The purpose of the conference is to present Italy’s strategic plan that aims to review the country’s approach to the African continent.

ASSUMPTA:
“Who is Enrico Mattei, who is said to have been a great Italian, a great European, and a true friend of Africa?”

MELONI:
Enrico Mattei was an Italian businessman and public administrator who played a significant role in the development of the Italian oil industry. He was born on April 29, 1906, i
in Acqualagna, Italy, and died on October 27, 1962, in a mysterious plane crash near Bascapè, Italy.
Mattei is known for his pivotal role in founding the Italian state-owned oil company, Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (ENI), in 1953. As the president of ENI, Mattei sought to reduce Italy’s dependence on foreign oil imports by promoting the exploration and extraction of domestic oil reserves. Under his leadership, ENI successfully discovered and exploited significant oil fields in Italy, particularly in the Po Valley.
Mattei’s vision extended beyond the Italian borders, and he actively pursued partnerships and collaborations with other countries, including those in Africa. He recognized the importance of energy resources for economic development, and he believed that oil could provide a path to growth and independence for African nations. Mattei established agreements with several African countries, including Algeria, Libya, and Nigeria, to explore and develop their oil resources. These partnerships helped pave the way for the rise of African oil industries and had significant geopolitical implications.

Mattei’s unconventional approach and independence from the major oil companies of the time made him a controversial figure. He challenged the dominance of the “Seven Sisters,” a group of multinational oil companies, and sought to establish fairer terms for oil-producing nations. Mattei believed that oil should be a tool for national development rather than solely a source of profit for foreign companies.
His efforts and progressive approach earned him strong support in Italy and admiration from many African leaders. Mattei’s contributions to the Italian oil industry, his commitment to energy independence, and his vision for Africa’s development as an oil-producing continent deeply influenced the energy landscape and left a lasting impact. Even after his death, Mattei’s legacy as a great Italian, a great European, and a friend of Africa continues to be celebrated.

ASSUMPTA
“Should Africans trust Europeans?”

MELONI:
“As a European woman, I can offer general insights on the topic. Trust between Africans and Europeans, or anyone else, is contingent upon individual experiences, contexts, and relationships. Trust is nurtured through positive interactions, mutual respect, and understanding, rather than generalising based on ethnicity or nationality. Historical factors like colonialism may influence perceptions but building trust requires assessing individuals based on their actions and values.”

ASSUMPTA:
Can we trust human beings?

MELONI:
Trusting human beings is subjective and depends on various factors such as personal experiences, individuals’ values and beliefs, and the context in which trust is being considered. While humans are capable of both positive and negative behaviours, many individuals uphold trustworthiness and honesty in their interactions. It is important to exercise critical judgement, consider past experiences, and observe actions before placing trust in someone.

Trust can be built through developing relationships, open communication, and consistent reliability. We should trust ourselves more to understand that human beings are the only hope on this earth. As long as we burn with anger against evil and injustice and take bold action against them, a new sun of civilization will unfold with hope.

ASSUMPTA:
Where can we find hope in human history?

MELONI:
We can find it in the fact that in every age, human beings have dedicated to truth and justice have risen up to fight against the forces of injustice
Today, Italians can find hope in me as their leader to help fight the economic injustice that has unjustly been imposed upon them. Just like Enrico Mattei, Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana is celebrated as one of Africa’s great teachers of humanity. However, 52 years ago, jealous opponents falsely accused him, slandered him with malicious lies, insulted him, and painted him as a villain. Ultimately, he was assassinated for living a life dedicated to truth.

ASSUMPTA;
The formula of persecution and slander born from jealousy remains unchanged even today.

MELONI:
To face the arrogant persecutors, the Brothers of Italy’s revolutions may differ on specific details; however, in most cases, they are motivated by the desire to reject the prevailing regime or system. Our new purpose in the Italy-African revolution is to eliminate poverty and misery, creating a new Italy and uplifting African citizens. This movement aims to assert independence from Brussels for Italy and from British colonialism for Africa, as outlined by the Italy-African Mattei Plan. Both Italy and Africa were influenced by popular dissatisfaction with the existing arrangements made by colonial powers.

ASSUMPTA
The people of Italy and Africa were discontented with the control exerted by colonial powers like Britain. In Italy, the desire to reject the prevailing regime and system stemmed from a need to combat arrogant persecutors. The Brothers of Italy’s revolutions, though differing in specific details, were largely motivated by a common goal – to eliminate poverty and misery and create a new Italy and Africa.
In the case of Africa, the Italy-African revolution aimed to assert African independence from British colonialism. The Mattei Plan, specifically, sought to free Africa from the control and influence of colonial powers. The prevailing sentiment in both Italy and Africa was one of popular dissatisfaction with the existing arrangements imposed by these colonial powers.
Overall, the desire for independence, the rejection of the prevailing regimes, and the goal of eliminating poverty and misery were common threads connecting the revolutions in both Italy and Africa. The desire to assert autonomy and to create a new path for their respective nations drove the movements and efforts to break free from colonial control.

MELONI :
That’s great to hear! It’s important to stand up against oppressive regimes and work towards creating a better future. The desire to eliminate poverty and misery and promote independence and autonomy for both Italy and Africa is a noble cause. By supporting these goals, we can strive for a more just and equitable society. Karma, often associated with destiny or fate, can be transformed into a conscious mission.

ASSUMPTA
If it weren’t for the colonial oppressive economic control and the conditions shaping our lives, both positive and seemingly negative, “Brothers Of Italy” could not have emerged to revolutionise the system for Italians to live happily in their country as human beings.

MELONI:
Absolutely, the influence of colonial oppressive economic control and the various conditions that surround our lives play a significant role in shaping our experiences and opportunities. These factors can indeed create immense challenges and obstacles that need to be addressed. For the “Brothers Of Italy” or any revolutionary movement, recognizing both the positive and seemingly negative aspects of our lives can be a catalyst for change.
By understanding the concept of karma as a reflection of our collective destiny or fate, we can transform it into a conscious mission to bring about positive change. This means actively working towards creating a system that allows Italians and people from all walks of life to live happily in their country as human beings, free from the oppressive influences of the past.
It’s important to recognize that the struggle for a better future is not an easy one, but by acknowledging the conditions that have led us to this point, we can mobilise and work towards a more just and equitable society. By addressing the underlying causes of systemic injustices, we can pave the way for a brighter future for all.

ASSUMPTA:
“Ultimately, it is the result of the karma we, as human beings, have created through our thoughts, words, and actions that is manifested in our own unique environment, making the birth of a new era possible. When this sobering realisation occurs, that we alone are fundamentally responsible for the reality of our lives, a bright ray of hope begins to stream through the veil of darkness. We realise that it is only through our own causes that we can change the suffering in our lives and bring happiness to our people and the entire country.”

MELONI:
Indeed, the recognition and acceptance of personal responsibility for the reality of our lives can be a powerful catalyst for change. Our thoughts, words, and actions shape the karma we create, and this personal agency gives us the power to influence our own circumstances and the well-being of our people.
When we realise that we hold the key to creating positive change, a sense of hope and empowerment emerges. By diligently creating positive causes and addressing the root causes of suffering, we can transform the lives of our people and ultimately bring happiness and prosperity to the entire country.
This understanding also implies that each individual has a role to play in shaping the destiny of our nation. It is not only the responsibility of leaders or specific groups but also the duty of every citizen to actively contribute to creating a better society. Through collective efforts, we can bring about transformative change and ensure that our people’s lives are filled with happiness, and our country thrives.
It is inspiring to realise that we possess the capacity to mould our future by making positive choices and taking compassionate actions. Let us seize this opportunity to create a more harmonious and prosperous society for all.

ASSUMPTA:
As far as short-term governance for five years is concerned, what reward are we expecting to receive at the Italy-Africa summit, which has commenced discussions on the Mattei Plan?

MELONI:
The Italy-Africa summit discussing the Mattei Plan aims to foster closer cooperation and economic development between Italy and African countries. In terms of short-term governance, the rewards can be manifold, including:
1. Increased trade and investment opportunities: The Mattei Plan may facilitate the expansion of trade between Italy and Africa, leading to mutual economic benefits and business opportunities for both regions. This could result in enhanced market access, increased exports, and foreign direct investment.
2. Infrastructure development: The summit may prioritize discussions and collaborations on infrastructure projects such as transportation networks, energy, telecommunications, and digital connectivity. By improving infrastructure, both Italy and African countries can enhance their economic competitiveness and enable smoother trade flows.
3. Job creation and employment: The Mattei Plan may focus on fostering partnerships in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism. Such collaborations can lead to the creation of jobs and employment opportunities, thereby contributing to poverty reduction and socioeconomic development in participating African countries.
4. Capacity building and skills transfer: The summit may emphasise knowledge and skills sharing programs, technical assistance, and capacity building initiatives. This would enable African countries to strengthen their own governance structures, improve institutional capacities, and enhance human capital in various sectors.
5. Cultural exchange and people-to-people connections: The Italy-Africa summit may also prioritise cultural exchange programs, educational collaborations, and tourism initiatives. These endeavours can foster greater understanding, tolerance, and friendship between Italy and African countries, leading to stronger diplomatic ties and people-to-people connections.
It is important to note that the specific outcomes and rewards of the Mattei Plan will depend on the discussions, agreements, and implementation strategies devised during the Italy-Africa summit.

ASSUMPTA:
Indeed, I acknowledge the potential benefits outlined and express my interest or support for the Mattei Plan and the Italy-Africa summit. “Thank you for providing an insightful overview of the potential rewards that can come from the Italy-Africa summit and the Mattei Plan. The increased trade opportunities, infrastructure development, job creation, capacity building, and cultural exchange all sound promising for both Italy and the participating African countries. I am impressed by the comprehensive approach being taken and I look forward to hearing more about the specific initiatives and outcomes of the summit.”
I believe that the Mattei-African plan will not be stereotypical, passive, or merely verbal. Let’s act as icebreakers, introducing pathways to victory and opening up possibilities for both countries. Thank you for joining today’s dialogue.

MELONI:
Thank you for emphasising the need for an active and action-oriented approach with the Mattei-African plan. I agree that it is crucial to move beyond mere rhetoric and focus on tangible actions that can lead to victory and meaningful collaboration between Italy and African countries. I appreciate being part of this dialogue and look forward to working together to make a positive impact on the lives of both nations.
