Adjeley:My mother used to say that people around the world chant the Daimoku of Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. In which language in which language do they chant?
Miss Joselyn: All people chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo in the same way!
The Class: Really? That’s amazing. Does this mean Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo is the common language?
Miss Joselyn: Yes, it is the language of the Buddhas, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the life of Nichiren Daishonin, himself. It is the very life of the Buddha.
The Class : I got it! Therefore, when we chant daimoku, our body and mind become better and better. We will manifest a higher life state.
Miss Joselyn: That’s right. When you chant daimoku, the same life state as the Daishonin will manifest within your own lives. That is why you will get better and braver in everything you do. Courage will emerge from within.
The Class: The daimoku of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is truly amazing!
Having learned the lesson of Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, the children have finally begun to realise where the basic cause of their Ignorance lies.
It can be said that modern man knows little about his own mind. On the one hand people recognize wars as evil, yet on the other they continue to wage wars here and there on the earth, calling them local or limited wars.
While they shudder at the possibility of a large-scale war, they continue assiduously to increase their armaments, even though these are already sufficient to annihilate mankind many times over. They declare that wars begin in the minds of men, but they completely ignore the question of how to control those minds.
Why do you challenge this question, while our contemporaries ignored it? The Class said.
